MADE FOR ME
Lady Catherine (Pride and Prejudice and Zombies (2016)) - OMG so moody and sassy and evil, but not really because she is on the "good side," but basically evil and fun. LOVE IT. My Lena Headey obsession finally has a Catherine de Bourgh vid to watch.

and

Another Dance (Pride and Prejudice and Zombies (2016)) - Great juxatposition with the music and the period piece look, but what? MOTHERFUCKING SWORDS AND DAGGERS AND SHIT UNDER THEIR FRILLY DRESSES!

Femslash Vidshow (Hug a Woman With Your Legs) Recs (I truly rec all of these vids. There's not a single one I didn't enjoy and love. I tried to pull together as varied choices as I could, so please enjoy.)

In femslash things can be more fun, more complicated, more adorable, more colorful, over the top, but never sated. Where fear and propaganda can meet. Sometimes it's sad and sweet, sometimes it needs to be created or seen from a different angle. They can be separated by glass, separated by death, always in our hears, like a fairytale that was fated to be cut together from different parts to become something new.

1. Scarlett North-Cavanaugh's It Keeps Getting Better (Multi) - This is actually framed as an advertisement, but I really like how it showed current femslash relationships in the media today.
2. [livejournal.com profile] elipie's The Way We Get By (Broad City) - This is my jam. I love this show, this couple, this vidder, this everything.
3. [livejournal.com profile] shati's We Are Complicated (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) - There's such a distinct understanding of Faith/Buffy. The nuances in the movement within the vid is great.
4. kitty's Don't Let Me Fall (Yes or No) - So adorable. I already have the source on my must see list. So adorable and sweet.
5. [livejournal.com profile] kiki_miserychic's I Do Adore (Adventure Time) - Self-rec, I know, but Princess Bubblegum and Marceline are so cute and in love. I'd originally started this for [livejournal.com profile] cherryice's festivid treat, but ended up rewatching the whole show instead of making the deadline.
6. [livejournal.com profile] sweetestdrain's Let Me Put My Love Into You (Bitch Slap) - How could I not include some exploitive and over the top awesome? Too good.
7. The Cylon Vidding Machine ([livejournal.com profile] beccatoria, [livejournal.com profile] metatxt, [livejournal.com profile] cyborganize, and [livejournal.com profile] heyiya)'s The Enemy Within PSA (Battlestar Galactica) - Funny and creepy at the same time. With boobs. My faves.
8. [livejournal.com profile] milly's Wonder (Once Upon a Time) - Breaks my heart when I think of Mulan. WEEE CCCOOOOULLD OFFF HHAAAADD IIITTT AAAAALLLLLLLL.
9. [livejournal.com profile] niyalune's Mrs. and Mrs. Blake (Teen Wolf) - Beautifully constructed trailer for underused characters (Jennifer and Kali). Epic as all hell.
10. [livejournal.com profile] anoel's Ready or Not (Faking It) - Another vid that made me seek out the source after watching. So cute and sad and adorable.
11. [livejournal.com profile] ghost_lingering's Signs (Dark Angel) - I adore this vidlet and everything that it is. Original Cindy was FORMATIVE for me.
12. zeppie9294's Let Her Go (The Last of Us) - So heartbreaking and wonderful.
13. [livejournal.com profile] fray_adjacent's Everywhere (Xena: Warrior Princess) - I think there's a guideline somewhere that femslash vidshows should have Xena in them and this vid is perfection.
14. FenrirsLittleSister's I Was Married (The Little Mermaid and Aladdin) - I'm so glad I was able to include this vid. The way the sources were put together and the storyline achieved fill me with joy. It's like taking something from childhood and reconstructing it into something new.
15. [livejournal.com profile] beccatoria and [livejournal.com profile] chaila's Hands Away (Fringe/Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles) - I knew I had to have this vid in my femslash vidshow. Come on, look at it. It's skillfully made and I bought into the premise immediately.
16. [livejournal.com profile] hollywoodgrrl and [livejournal.com profile] ohvienna's Vitalum Vitalis (American Horror Story: Coven) - When they sent it to me, I watched it and cried so hard. I thought they were going to "fix" the ending with Cordelia and Misty Day... It's their fault that I didn't have a happy ending femslash vidshow. Those assholes (ilu tho).

Alternate Universe Final Vid for Those Who Long for Happy Endings: [livejournal.com profile] jarrow's I Wanna Dance (Glee) - Dancing Lesbians! Be good to yourself and be converted to Faberry and Brittana.

A special thank you to those vidders who kindly allowed me to use their work and those who created premieres. You are brilliant unicorns and I treasure you like pancakes.

And I'm linking to the Thank Heaven for Little Girls Playlist - WisCon 2013 from last year (Collection of vids about little girls: their protectors, their victims, their worlds, their families, their missions, their deaths...)

Originally I had intended to include addition vids, but needed to cull the playlist for length, repetitions, and stricter adherence to themes. These vids were not included in the playlist, I did want to provide links for others.

kiki_miserychic: A Dinosaur and Kate Spade Shoes Fairytale (A Dinosaur and Kate Spade Shoes Fairytal)
It only took 12 hours, but I've watched ALL THE FESTIVIDS.

RECS:
Postpone The Bad (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) - Wow, I love the way they used the screens and clips of mundane things. The moment at :30 is freaking perfect and I love it.
Who Are You, Defenders of the Universe (The Americans) - I love the editing style and clip choices, how the similarities are pulled together and pulled apart. I want to be in a fake marriage that grows into something real with this vid.
Paper Planes (Bandidas) - Without having seen the movie, I think it's a super cute bank robbers BFF movie because this vid is a super cute band robbers BFF movie and I love it. I'm totes watching this movie.
All Be Yours (Big) - So fun and so sad at the same time. I'm never going to grow up.
I Am The Rain (Brave) - I absolutely adore this little vid. It captures the spirit of the movie amazingly well.
Black Flowers (Call the Midwife) - I wasn't expecting to become so invested in the vid because I've not watched the source. But this vid so very well edited and doesn't hold back any emotional punches.
Battle Without Honor or Humanity (Danger 5) - A parody of a parody. Kill Hitler.
Get Close (Deep Blue Sea) - MINE MINE MINE SHARK SHARK SHARKSSSSSS! Awesome music choice. And I love the transitions too!
Ah Ha (Deep Blue Sea) - Excellent use of action and shocking moments with the music. SHARKSSSS!
Gasoline (Live Free of Die Hard) - I love it. I can't read this as anything other than Matt Farrell/John McClane. The flirting was strong with those two. I need to see if there's any new fics on AO3. IT'S A FIRE!!!!! sale.
Applause (Don't Trust the B---- in Apartment 23) - I didn't know how much I wanted to see this vid until I watched it because it's really the perfect song for James van der Beek and Chloe.
Who Are You, Really? (Dredd) - Excellent pacing and clip choice. It really melds nicely with the music.
Get Me Bodied (The Fifth Element) - This is epic and fantastic!
All We Got (The Great Gatsby) - Fabulous editing and heartbreak and pacing.
221B And A Half (The Great Mouse Detective) - I really like the use of narration.
Love, Save the Empty (Masters of Sex) - An interesting look at the relationship between Lillian and Virginia that put a doopey grin on my face.
L.O.V.E (Much Ado About Nothing) - So adorable and cute that I went into a coma.
World Spins Madly On (New Amsterdam) - Interesting manipulation of time for a show that was cancelled in the middle of the story.
Further On (Northern Exposure) - I'd forgotten how much I loved this show. I remember so much of it, but then I watched the vid and realized I'd forgotten so much.
#timeangels (NTSF:SD:SUV::) - Cool fake trailer.
Keep Your Picture Clear (Pacific Rim) - Very cool lyrics matches. The vid has a stuttery cool vibe that I dig.
Final Round (Pariah) - Tension filled beginning and a beautifully created climax. I need to rewatch this movie.
Diva Swing (RPF - A.J. Lee (WWE)) - Excellent editing and a really interesting "behind the scenes" origin style ending.
What I Like About You (RPF - Dean Martin & Jerry Lewis) - OMG, this is hilarious fun.
Gorgeous (RPF - Hugh Jackman) - I'm seriously intrigued by this vid because I haven't seen 95% of where the clips came from. It's insane and Hugh Jackman LOVES to dance.
(You Drive Me) Crazy (Sharknado) - My life is complete.
Moonlight (Sleepy Hollow) - I love the atmosphere created with the clips and the music.
The Way Things Are (Sleepy Hollow) - Wow, great song choice that leads from a harsh opening into something more painful and emotional. JENNY!
The Ballad of Wesley Crusher (Star Trek - Next Generation) - Whoa, unexpected sadness on my face. The passage of time was beautifully shown.
Paradise Circus (Stoker) - It's a good thing I didn't finish my own because it would have been like this, but less amazing. The parallels and musicality are brilliant.
Young and Beautiful (The Tudors) - Wow, I didn't realize the thread that was being pulled until it shifted from Catherine and I freaking fell in love with the concept.
No Church in the Wild (The Tudors) - DAYUM, the imagery and connections and lyrics matches and everything is so freaking perfect.
Freedom at 21 (The White Queen) - EVERYTHING IS MAGGIE B. OMFG, this is everything I wanted in a Red Queen vid but didn't ask for. The imagery and editing is fantastic. The switch over to the White Queen is amazing. I can't believe how serious and beautiful this is. OMFG.
Dutch (The Wire) - Mmmmm, such good music choice. Love the use of hands and the lyrics. The throughline of money and power is brilliant. The editing is amazing and I love it all.
Song 9 (Wonderfalls) - Great use of the animals and I like the back and forth editing.
kiki_miserychic: A Dinosaur and Kate Spade Shoes Fairytale (A Dinosaur and Kate Spade Shoes Fairytal)
Club Vivid Premieres
[livejournal.com profile] dualbunny's Raise Your Glass (Community) - I like how it embraces everything about the show that makes it what it is. It's like the show was boiled down and poured into the vid.

[livejournal.com profile] sweetestdrain's Notorious (Spartacus: War of the Damned) - I'm a sucker for marching in beat to the music. And for writhing bodies. And for bloody gore. And for gender non-conformity in lyric use.

[livejournal.com profile] bananainpyjamas's Dance Alarm (Final Fantasy XIII) - OMG, the division of mashed up voices was funny and effective.

[livejournal.com profile] frayadjacent's Tightrope (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) - I'm totally biased in LOVING this vid because I helped beta it. And I adore it to pieces. I adore the visuals that were added and there's great care in how the vid was made, if that makes sense. Like, I can tell that the vidder love and enjoyed it.

[livejournal.com profile] bradcpu & son's Firework (Sherlock Holmes) - There needs to be 100% Club Vivid vids to Kidz Bop songs because this is hilarious to me. I hope it's supposed to be delightful and fun because it makes me smile.

[livejournal.com profile] obsessive24's Va Va Boom (Merlin) - THIS IS A CHILDREN'S SHOW? WITH THAT MANY SEXUAL REFERENCES? WOW, I should have kept watching Merlin for the fisting jokes.

kass and [livejournal.com profile] laurashapiro's Scream (Doctor Who) - I love it when Club Vivid vids start out all innocent and fun, then slowly become vaguely menacing and creepifying like this.

[livejournal.com profile] shati's Follow Me (Chocolate) - BADASS. Netflix, here I come.

[livejournal.com profile] hollywoodgrrl's Smells Like Westeros Spirit (Game of Thrones) - Fuck me in a tower with all our clothes on, this has so many onion-y layers that it's new every time I rewatch it. I'm not kidding, I feel like I'm falling in a rabbit hole as I read other people comments and realize new things.

[livejournal.com profile] jetpack_monkey's Let's Go to the Mall (Dawn of the Dead 1978) - I bullied this vid into existence. The absurdity is beautiful. I'm going to be a dick and remix this for the remake, lol. It's a thing that I do in my head to [livejournal.com profile] jetpack_monkey's vids. Mine is an evil laugh.
kiki_miserychic: A Dinosaur and Kate Spade Shoes Fairytale (A Dinosaur and Kate Spade Shoes Fairytal)
Challenge Amenesty
[livejournal.com profile] bradcpu's Thrift Shop (remakes) - LOLZ, entertaining concept and great musical combination. A cinematic thrill of a vid. The "I wear your granddad's clothes" section was especially satisfying.

ghost_lingering's Shephards (Firefly & Pulp Fiction) - Again, a spoken word vid was my favorite of a vidshow. I love everything about what this vid chooses to be. The way the three back stories are essentially the same was something that I needed to see in vid form. Book, Jubal Early, and the Operative were the same piece in the game at different levels of the game so to speak, parallel to Jules in Pulp Fiction. I still remember realizing that intentional vid connection during the Challenge discussion and I felt like a genius, lol.

[livejournal.com profile] anoel's We Don't Care (The Wire) - I'll never get tired of vids about the kids' season on The Wire.

[livejournal.com profile] milly's Mineshaft (Game of Thrones) - Ros, how I love thee and how her story was woven in this vid. Dessa, how I love thee too.

[livejournal.com profile] sisabet and [livejournal.com profile] sweetestdrain's The Sellout (multifandom) - Troublesome, yet ultimately satisfying storylines, which probably says something about me as a viewer.

[livejournal.com profile] absolutedestiny's Age Like Wine (vidder's catalog) - Those programs look hella impressive and daunting. I love introspective and self referential things like this.
kiki_miserychic: A Dinosaur and Kate Spade Shoes Fairytale (A Dinosaur and Kate Spade Shoes Fairytal)
[livejournal.com profile] jetpack_monkey's Vividcon 2013 Premieres Intro vid (Multi) - SO CUTE.

[livejournal.com profile] bananainpyjamas's I'm No Superman (Lego Batman 2: DC Superheroes) - I love the balance of humor and sincerity that this vid strikes. The musicality hits the perfect chord of adorableness with the movements and narrative structure.

kass' In the Hole (Ripper Street) - Well, I started watching Ripper Street (Old Timey CSI) when I started this recs post and I've already finished it before posting this. I was drawn in by the vid's sound matching with the video, like the kid throwing the rock, then the sound of glass breaking.

[livejournal.com profile] jetpack_monkey's Slippery Slope (The Wickerman) - Fuck me sideways. I can't really explain my love for this vid because it's so wrapped in a strange feeling of despair and dread. The use of the movie is so well done, like the slight movements within the clips. The most well known images are edited perfectly in the vid too. The reveal, MY GOD, that man's stupidity... Yes, I know people see the movie differently, but I see that man as stupid in his morality.

[livejournal.com profile] anoel's Past the Feeling (Once Upon a Time) - The FEELS of my heart. I don't need to watch Once Upon a Time, I just need to watch anoel's vids. The imagery is gorgeously used and the music is seamlessly woven with them. Regina's story and how her tendrils reach out into the other characters and family. The vid is almost 5 minutes long, but I wanted it to keep going and I didn't want Regina's story to end. I'm bias because I will never be over Swan Queen. I love the segmented nature of the vid and I feel like that's the only way a Regina vid could work. She's a very compartmentalized character and she's written in such bizarre ways. I'm amazed at how the vid draws things together in such a way that it makes a beautiful fairytale... At one point I remember thinking over and over "SOMEONE GIVE REGINA A HUG."

[livejournal.com profile] shati's Hope on Fire (Queen Seondeok) - I've watched and heard about Queen Seondeok from [livejournal.com profile] beccatoria so much that I feel like I've watched the show. I feel like every Queen Seondeok vid has great clip choice because of the sheer amount of source that it has, yet none of the vids I watch seem stale or repetitious. Your use of the camera motion is lovely and the balance of close up shots with larger scale scenes.

[livejournal.com profile] astolat's When I Ruled the World (Person of Interest) - I liked the narrative structure and the use of lyrics in relation to the characters and story lines. The use and creation of the machine sections was especially lovely.

[livejournal.com profile] sweetestdrain's Graceless (Spartacus) - There were two vids made with the same concept and source. I love them both differently, but for the same reasons. The progression of the narrative was beautiful and compelling. I love the tender, yet fierce love that comes through in the editing. There's an obvious beginning, middle, and end, which was so brilliantly satisfying while still breaking my heart.

echan's Omega (Fight Club) - CAN WE TALK ABOUT HOW MUCH I WANT TO HAVE HATE SEX WITH THIS VID, PLEASE? Like, I would let it do the most unfathomable things to me. The use of, not only the audio, but the SOUNDS. It's music to my eyeballs. I have such a thing for the use of spoken word in vidding.

[livejournal.com profile] butterfly's Firework (Supernatural) - I watched a different vid than most of the people I talked to after Premieres. I saw it as Charlie being fabulous and amazing and Dean loving her like a sister (because she's not a love interest threat because she's identified as queer). Through Dean loving Charlie, he accepts his own queerness and love of Cas. Dean embraces his own self by hugging those close to him, showing his emotions, and "rejects" his previous hetero-normative characterization. I said that and everyone on my side of the hotel room looked at me like I'd grown three heads. This is how I choose to perceive this vid and it's beautiful, even if it's not the vidder's intention.

[livejournal.com profile] lolachrome's We're All Missing Mama (Peter Pan) - I had a doofy grin on my face during this vid and I know it, even the when it was sad.

[livejournal.com profile] killabeez's Dyin' Day (The Hunger Games) - The desolation, my god, the desolation.

[livejournal.com profile] hollywoodgrrl's Run Boy Run (Game of Thrones) - One of my favorites that I can't textually render my thoughts without cracking my head open like an e.e. cummings poem. The clips are all so important and all the character's fates are so similar. For me it was all love of the narrative, editing, song use, and the characters coming through without getting lost in it all.

[livejournal.com profile] joyo and [livejournal.com profile] absolutedestiny's Please Please Please Let Me Get What I Want (Infomercials) - I love this on a fannish level, of course, but also in a personal "real life" way, which added to my enjoyment. A group of friends and I play a game where if one of us yells out "person in an infomercial" that person has to finish whatever their doing in an epically and overly dramatic fashion. I've ruin so many things playing this horrible game.

[livejournal.com profile] findthesea's No Direction Home (Lost) - I never knew I wanted to see a Sawyer character study until I saw this vid. Having just did a rewatch of Lost (the chronological edit), I had an instant connection to it because the source was still on my mind and in my conversations. It's a rich vid with an interesting structure that I dug. First time vidders that make such great vids make me so jealous.

[livejournal.com profile] bradcpu and [livejournal.com profile] milly's The Polka Slayer (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) - There's wild and wide humor. It ranges and whips around, which makes it a great ride. I thought it was going to get sad for a moment, but then the funny came back and that's my favorite part.
kiki_miserychic: A Dinosaur and Kate Spade Shoes Fairytale (A Dinosaur and Kate Spade Shoes Fairytal)
Glitterguts! (Desensitisation encomium)
[livejournal.com profile] absolutedestiny's I Fink U Freeky (90s Japanese erotic cyberpunk body-horror movies including 946 Pinocchio (1991), Rubber's Lover (1996) and Tetsuo: The Iron man (1989)) - I really enjoyed this. The movements within the frame along with the sounds in the music and the arrangements of images are fantastic.

[livejournal.com profile] jetpack_monkey's A Quite Serious Thematic Analysis of the Works of David Cronenberg (The films of David Cronenberg) - I love how director study vids bring out all sorts of terrifying parallels in the sources. They're utterly captivating visuals and they're made even more so apparent when placed together and intercut by the editing.

Brand New Classic Hits
[livejournal.com profile] cupidsbow's We Must Be Killers (The Defiant Ones) - I connected emotionally to the characters far more than I thought and more than I usually connect to unknown source in a vid.

[livejournal.com profile] hollywoodgrrl's The Amazing Sounds of Orgy (Replusion) - This is what going mad feels like.

Kitovraska's Loneliness (Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs and Sleeping Beauty) - Wow, love the additional line and text in this. It's constructed well, without feeling like it went for cheap moments to create the romance between Snow White and Sleeping Beauty.

A Matter of Perspective
[livejournal.com profile] obsessive24's Blinding (Merlin) - DAYUM. I love the building pressure. Having heard the song tons of times before, I knew what was coming musically and I couldn't wait to see what the vidder did it with. OBVI, I was not disappointed. Excellent epic emotional zoom SKILLZ, breathing, and the happy little orange bit made my heart hurt.

[livejournal.com profile] heresluck's How I Got Over (The Wire) - Expertly accomplished study of Michael, Namond, Randy, Dukie, and those around them. I still get emotional about how well the vid follows their stories down their respective rabbit holes.

[livejournal.com profile] keely's Sugar (Smallville) - Still amazed at how this vid was able to construct Lana Lang as an actual character that doesn't depend on who she's with and not just a plot device.

Video Game Vids
[livejournal.com profile] milly's Riverside (Tomb Raider 2013) - Putting aside the issues I have with the game itself, this is a deeply emotionally sound and mapped out vid.

Zup's Dopest Dope You've Ever Seen! (Battlefield 3, Blacklight Retribution, Call Of Duty: Black Ops 2, Crysis 2, Crysis 3, Medal Of Honor) - The title really does say it all.

UFец's Paper Planes (Borderlands 2) - I love that it doesn't take itself seriously, even though it could have gone that direction. There's humor throughout.

Hamps's Warrior Concerto (Assassin's Creed) - This has always been one of my favorite videogame vids because it ties so many things together, while staying visually fresh to death.

gef's de:part (Alan Wake) - The atmosphere is created beautifully with the aide of the visual and music choices. The editing falls into sync with the music without being too predictable.

evi's evo (Deus Ex: Human Revolution) - I envy the way it moves and navigates through the source.

Also Premiering (Non-attending premieres)
[livejournal.com profile] obsessive24's Devil Wouldn't Recognize You (Elementary) - Very cool use of the coloring and added effects clips overtop. I especially love how Sherlock ripping down just his portraits seems more important than in the source when it's paired with the other uses of art in the vid. Love the choppy, yet obviously purposeful editing.
kiki_miserychic: A Dinosaur and Kate Spade Shoes Fairytale (Default)
LET'S PUT ON A SHOW

Hot in Herre (Cabaret) - A pitch perfect progression of narrative. -[livejournal.com profile] sweetestdrain

They Want More (Jurassic Park trilogy) - Sick and funny. -[livejournal.com profile] bironic

Manipulation (K-POP) - Great movement and editing from so many sources. -[livejournal.com profile] winterevanesce

Between Two Points (My Chemical Romance Bandom) - The look and atmosphere are like another universe. -[livejournal.com profile] josiemus_prime

Mama (Hamlet) - Such a twisted and slick vid that explores and deconstructs a Shakespeare play to the bone and then builds it back up. -[livejournal.com profile] obsessive24

Running Away (Son of Rambow) - A touching and charming vid to a movie that tore apart my heart. -[livejournal.com profile] absolutedestiny

The Royal We (Hunger Games) - Excellent editing. -[livejournal.com profile] bradcpu
kiki_miserychic: A Dinosaur and Kate Spade Shoes Fairytale (Default)
CHALLENGE

Future Proof (Chronicle) - Deftly paced and edited vid that makes me want to check out the source. It looks similar to The Fades (which I loved). -[livejournal.com profile] obsessive24

Shake It Out (The New World) - A forcefully powerful and important vid. -[livejournal.com profile] mresundance

Jar Oh! Hearts (Multi) - OMGICOULDWATCHTHISONREPEATANDSEETHEJOURNEYOVERANDOVERANDOVER -Jescaflowne

AUCTION

Mama Said Knock You Out (Avatar: The Last Airbender (2005) and The Legend of Korra (2012)) - Excellent vid. Love it and I'm going to watch The Legend of Korra now. I give in. -[livejournal.com profile] absolutedestiny

The Death and The Navigator (The Navigator (1987)) - I have no idea what's going on, but I don't care because it's a beautiful vid. -[livejournal.com profile] absolutedestiny

Mr. Brightside (The Talented Mr. Ripley) - I love the use of an instrumental version of a song a lot of people know the words to without hearing them. It adds an interesting level to the vid. Very effective pacing and clip choice, especially the way the murder scene plays out in the vid. -[livejournal.com profile] jarrow

Moves Like Jagger (multi) - Scientologists are going to come for you. When this vid is over, you have my permission to freak out. -[livejournal.com profile] kuwdora
kiki_miserychic: A Dinosaur and Kate Spade Shoes Fairytale (Default)
Say Aha (Alien) - I love this vid not only for what it is, but what it's not. The vidder knew exactly what garbage to leave out from the movies. -[livejournal.com profile] absolutedestiny

Smack My Bitch Up (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo) - I love the compare and contrast effect of the vid with the impeccable editing. -[livejournal.com profile] hollywoodgrrl

Everything is Wrong (Community) - It's a massive in joke of epic love. Community has been traveling down the path that Farscape did in terms of rewarding longtime viewers. That makes it inaccessible to a lot of views. The same is true of the vid because it rewards the people that love Britta. It's everything I've wanted for a Britta vid. Also, the music offers such a great range of emotions, which the vidder uses beautifully. -[livejournal.com profile] laurashapiro

Games (Sherlock) - There's a beautiful subtlety and nuance that I find refreshing and entrancing about this vid. -[livejournal.com profile] lolachrome

How I Got Over (The Wire) - I feel like I've been waiting for this vid my entire life and now that it's here I'm left with an overwhelming feeling of sadness. It's a brilliantly constructed in depth study of the kids in season 4. -[livejournal.com profile] heresluck

Real Wild Child (Lost Girl) - I love the energy and fun of this vid. -[livejournal.com profile] jetpack_monkey

Barton Hollow (Homeland) - There's nothing knowledgeable I can say because I haven't watched the series, but the vid is extremely well conceived and executed and moving. -[livejournal.com profile] fan_eunice
kiki_miserychic: A Dinosaur and Kate Spade Shoes Fairytale (awkward flamingo)
VividCon Premieres 2012 Intro Vid (multi) - EPIC AS HALE. -[livejournal.com profile] greensilver

Fields of Coal (The Unusuals) - I have such a deep love of the show that I was worried the vid would just be someone who watched for Jeremy Renner. I cannot express how happy I was with this vid. I had a doofy smile on my face the entire time, even at the sad bits, because I was just so happy that it existed. -[livejournal.com profile] barkley

The Adventure (Harry Potter) - Who doesn't love Neville? If I had feelings, I'd probably have gotten misty. I thought it was interesting during In Depth when it was said that most of fandom is coming from the "same place" as Neville. I don't know how true it is, but I do know that Harry Potter, the character, was like boring sand paper to me, so anything that makes someone else's journey the focus it fantastic. -[livejournal.com profile] greensilver

Forever Yours (House) - The enthusiasm and love in this vid is unparalleled. It took 8 years and it needed to be made and it needed to loved by me. For a brief moment I forgot that Wilson was totally dying. -[livejournal.com profile] anoel

Let Me Put My Love in You (Bitchslap) - This movie owned me, so I was sold before the vid even started. The added bonus was that the vid is so amazing and I didn't want to blink for fear of missing a second. It has the witty tongue-in-cheek winking thing going for it because it never takes itself too seriously and when it does, there's a hilarious edit to bring it back to camp. -[livejournal.com profile] sweetestdrain

Lateralus (Fringe) - I love how this stood out among the other vids because of how it handled the opening. It's all about consequences for actions. I'm continually torn over Walter's character because he's so many things and there's so many different ways to feel about his character. This pulls a lot of those feelings into one coherent vid. The cause and effect throughout the vid is killer. -[livejournal.com profile] rhoboat

White Rabbit (Puella Magi Madoka Magica) - Trippy as hell and I loved it. -[livejournal.com profile] shati

Masters of War (The Pegasus Rising Remix) (Stargate: Atlantis)- A lot of people in SGA fandom have been waiting years for a vid like this. Much like Lateralus from above, it's all about consequences. SGA tended to be a show of squee, but it always something dark with a mask painted over it for me. -[livejournal.com profile] bironic

Possession (Legend of the Seeker) - So beautiful. -[livejournal.com profile] bradcpu

The Lightning Strike (multi) - When the vid first started my thought was, "ohhh, Nicky would hate this. It's a bunch of white dudes clowning around making war." Then after a moment I recognized the editing and realized it was her vid. Oops, that will teach me to not look at the program beforehand. This is absolutely the ultimate epic slash vid throughout history and beyond. -[livejournal.com profile] obsessive24

VID RECS:
[livejournal.com profile] kuwdora's Outer Space (Stargate Ark of Truth)- The movements are flowing and beautiful with the fading and the feel of the music.
[livejournal.com profile] kuwdora's Under My Skin (Heroes)- LOL, I have no clue what is actually going on, but it looks like a hilarious romp, like a mind control Weekend at Bernie's. OMGINSANITY!
[livejournal.com profile] kuwdora's Hot Mess (Heroes)- That's hot.
[livejournal.com profile] kuwdora's If You Stayed Over (Sleeper Cell)- My heart is broken after watching. It looks so beautiful with all the tragedy and sadness, then those brief moments of hope that are dashed to pieces.
[livejournal.com profile] kuwdora's Suddenly I See (Castle)- Sweet and adorable with a lovely concept.

[livejournal.com profile] chaila43's Lucky (Rubicon)- Very interesting editing. The vid really made me miss the show. I can't believe it was cancelled. It was so flipping good, I don't understand it. The music choice was excellent, like a lovely kind of weirdness with the jumpcutting structure.
[livejournal.com profile] chaila43's Pokerface (Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles)- Hell yeah, love the editing and style choices with the interesting religion themes, the use of hands, the turning, and how the men twirl around her until she twists them up.

[livejournal.com profile] hollywoodgrrl amd [livejournal.com profile] ohvienna's Seven (David Lynch Films)- The narrative of the vid very much echoes the construct of a Lynch film. The editing is meticulously calculated and pay mind to recurring compositions and logics. I love how she played with the fractured identities to the point of them all, mainly female characters, being one solid character because they are all from Lynch's mind. They split and crack and form one monster. The vid begins as a typical vid might with set up and an evolving narrative, then it tumbles down the rabbit hole into a wonderland of audiovisual nightmarish delight. I've watched many of his recent documentaries and there is something of the man himself captured in the vid. It's a nearly unexplainable quality that the vid has manipulated his life's work to create a deconstruction draped over a man.

[livejournal.com profile] hollywoodgrrl's Deeper and Deeper (Legend of the Seeker)- I have a thing for violent sex fights, therefore, I love this vid.
[livejournal.com profile] hollywoodgrrl's Vertigo (Twin Peaks)- I need to take a shower after that horrid and disturbing vid. I loved it. The dancing and kissing and twirling and the hits and the back and forth between Leland and BOB.
[livejournal.com profile] hollywoodgrrl's Boom Boom Pow (Fringe)- MY FAVORITE PART WAS EVERYTHING
kiki_miserychic: A Dinosaur and Kate Spade Shoes Fairytale (Default)
VID RECS:
[livejournal.com profile] bop_radar's Brand New Start (True Blood)- Aww, Jessica and Hoyt are probably my favorite couple on True Blood. The music is cute for them in the vid, which is strange and adorable.
[livejournal.com profile] bop_radar's When life gives me lemons, I make lemonade (Community)- Great quirky editing, music use, and sound matching. I had the doofiest grin on my face for most of the vid.

[livejournal.com profile] danegen's Power (True Blood)- The song choice fits Russell absolutely. I wanted to laugh, which I did, but I ended up taking the whole thing seriously. I was caught between the LOLZ and the SRS BSNS.
[livejournal.com profile] danegen's Sweet Ones (Were the World Mine)- Total fun! Great music and it does a great job of fitting in with the movie too. It has a fantastical feeling in the music that is perfect for the movie.

[livejournal.com profile] sol_se's Evil Love Shack of Darkness (Evil Dead, Evil Dead 2, Army of Darkness)- LOLZ, hi-larious and awesome. I'm bouncing along with the song and the chainsaw. KILLED ME DEAD WITH LAUGHTER.
kiki_miserychic: A Dinosaur and Kate Spade Shoes Fairytale (alice in wonderland)
VID RECS:
[livejournal.com profile] balistik94's Easy Money (Lock, Stock & Two Smoking Barrels; Revolver; RocknRolla; Snatch) - These are some of my favorite movies and they are blend nicely with great clip choice in this vid. I love how commonalities in the movies are drawn out.

[livejournal.com profile] beccatoria's Howl (Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles) - Very cool overlays and I love the editing style of fits and starts. It's a fantistic look at Jesse in relation to Derek, Riley, and her mission.

[livejournal.com profile] chaila43's Suicide Future (Rewind) (Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles) - Derek is an intensely interesting character and I love the music. The use of light and clips have great interactions with each other. I like how the visual similiarities are drawn out without dwelling on them.
[livejournal.com profile] chaila43's Suicide Future (Fast Forward) (Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles) - Great tension creation and exploration of John's character. I saw blown back by some of the lyrical interpretations. Powerful stuff, like "instead of killin', I spare the raccoon / And start fillin' sand bags as I stare at the moon," "we let the thoughts flood, we remind ourselves it's all right, it's all good / It's all love, it's not though," "a pot hole I'm sinkin' in, sharing a drink with my father."

[livejournal.com profile] charmax's Mr. Blue Sky (Wall-E) - This vid fills me with unabashed glee and happiness. I love it to pieces and think it's practically perfect in every way.

[livejournal.com profile] cherryice's Gasoline and Matches (Bones) - I love how cute and fun this is. The clip selection and organization is awesome with so many great uses.

[livejournal.com profile] obsessive24's Wicked Game (Battlestar Galactica) - It still hurts a bit, this vid is that good. I love the devastation of the world and the character of Dee. There's not much I can say that probably hasn't been said already about how amazing this vid is in all it's depressing glory.
[livejournal.com profile] obsessive24's I want to destroy something beautiful (Misfits) - It's a vid about a rapey-eyed tit-pissing cookie-munching corpse-watcher that can't tell the difference between romance and violence. What's not to love?
[livejournal.com profile] obsessive24's The Scream (Torchwood) - I could almost say that I'm sick of Nicky being so darn awesome and amazing at making vids, but I love them so much. This one is a freaky little exploration of Children of Earth with eyeball murderingly awesomeness.

[livejournal.com profile] thuviaparth's Etheric Messages (Fringe) - Wow, I am enthralled with this vid and all it's brillance. The feeling, clip choice, editing, colors, motion, and everything are amazing. It's part of the reason I started watching Fringe.

[livejournal.com profile] tearful_eye's Needs (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon; Hero; House of Flying Daggers; Memoirs of a Geisha) - This is a fantastic vid that I want to live in. The colors are lush and blend together to the point of it being difficult to pick out the different movies. The motion is breathtaking and the whole vid is EPIC AS HELL. The clip connections and interactions are startling in their perfection.
[livejournal.com profile] tearful_eye's Never Be (Criminal Minds) - It's disturbing and haunting, which I gather was the intent because the vid is extremely well focused. I don't watch the show, but I was right there with the vid without a second thought because I was immediately locked in by the emotion and editing. There are so creepy moments that sent chills up my spine and made me want to take a shower, but in a good way that let's me know how awesome the vid is.
[livejournal.com profile] tearful_eye's The Survivor (Band of Brothers) - The editing is quiet, yet effective. The pacing is great and the instrumental lends itself well to the vid. It's a sleek and well created.

VID RECS:
[livejournal.com profile] bradcpu's Lightning Field (Legend of the Seeker) - BEST. VID. IN. THE. UNIVERSE.

[livejournal.com profile] lolachrome's He Will Chase You (Supernatural) - Apocalyptic noir, people, apocalyptic noir. The blend of sources has a great look and feel.
[livejournal.com profile] lolachrome's I Know Someone (Waits for Me) (Supernatural) - Cool editing choices, especially the jarring cuts.
[livejournal.com profile] lolachrome's Zion (Supernatural) - Fantastic musicality with beautiful video layering.
kiki_miserychic: A Dinosaur and Kate Spade Shoes Fairytale (alice in wonderland)
VID RECS:
[livejournal.com profile] beccatoria's The Unforgiven Ones (Battlestar Galactica) - I'm continually in love with how she edits. The way she put things together and draw lines of comparison and contrast within the source. I especially love how she takes a storyline that was presented non-linearly in the source and reorder it in a way that pulls out deeper meanings.
Breakups on a Battlestar (Laura left her, again) (Battlestar Galactica) - The editing fucks me perfectly with the beautiful framing when the images flash back and forth. The music picks up and it's like an anger is released. It's tragically sad in the misdirection of the characters.
Breakups on a Battlestar (Laura left him, again) (Battlestar Galactica) - It's a pathetic kind of sad that makes me laugh at the misfortune of Lee in this vid. Laura/Lee started out as one of the most interesting relationships on the show and I love what this vid says about them.
Suicide Planet: The Future (Battlestar Galactica) - It's fantastic how she was able to incorporate different storylines and characters into D'Anna's net.
Suicide Planet: No Future (Battlestar Galactica) - I like how she set up the repetition in the editing to give it an definitive feel all of its own. It looks so soul crushing and suffocating to be Dee.

[livejournal.com profile] bradcpu's So What'cha Want (House) - holyshitballs. This is the best vid I've watched in a long time. I love what he does with House vid and this one is brillant. It's been a while since I've watched that season, but the vid brings it all back. My favorite part was everything. Seriously. The build, the music matches, cute movements. The progression is interesting too. A lot is included a lot is left out. What he left out is just as important as what he put in. The way he weaves storylines together is stellar too. The editing and look of the vid is BANANAS. It's the kind of vid that I'm going to roll it around in my head and watch a bunch more times because I know there's things buried in it.

[livejournal.com profile] counteragent's Above and Below (Supernatural) - Fantastic symbolism and clip interaction in the motion and how they mirror each other. The beat use is interesting as well, like which beats are emphasized.

dragonchic's Khwaab (The Dream) (Slumdog Millionaire) - Beautiful use of lighting and colors with style.

[livejournal.com profile] jarrow's Like My Very Own Blood (Battlestar Galactica) - It took me until now to watch the whole vid. It's very emotional and the cutting made it feel like a hammer on my soul or something. The music use is amazing coupled with the sense of timing and the elegantly violent clips. The concept is tightly constructed and executed. There's not a wasted second in the whole vid.

[livejournal.com profile] secretlytodream's They're Calling My Name (Supernatural) - A creepy and colorfully interesting vid with the visuals and motion matched well to the music.
