kiki_miserychic: A Dinosaur and Kate Spade Shoes Fairytale (alice in wonderland)
VID RECS:
[livejournal.com profile] balistik94's Easy Money (Lock, Stock & Two Smoking Barrels; Revolver; RocknRolla; Snatch) - These are some of my favorite movies and they are blend nicely with great clip choice in this vid. I love how commonalities in the movies are drawn out.

[livejournal.com profile] beccatoria's Howl (Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles) - Very cool overlays and I love the editing style of fits and starts. It's a fantistic look at Jesse in relation to Derek, Riley, and her mission.

[livejournal.com profile] chaila43's Suicide Future (Rewind) (Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles) - Derek is an intensely interesting character and I love the music. The use of light and clips have great interactions with each other. I like how the visual similiarities are drawn out without dwelling on them.
[livejournal.com profile] chaila43's Suicide Future (Fast Forward) (Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles) - Great tension creation and exploration of John's character. I saw blown back by some of the lyrical interpretations. Powerful stuff, like "instead of killin', I spare the raccoon / And start fillin' sand bags as I stare at the moon," "we let the thoughts flood, we remind ourselves it's all right, it's all good / It's all love, it's not though," "a pot hole I'm sinkin' in, sharing a drink with my father."

[livejournal.com profile] charmax's Mr. Blue Sky (Wall-E) - This vid fills me with unabashed glee and happiness. I love it to pieces and think it's practically perfect in every way.

[livejournal.com profile] cherryice's Gasoline and Matches (Bones) - I love how cute and fun this is. The clip selection and organization is awesome with so many great uses.

[livejournal.com profile] obsessive24's Wicked Game (Battlestar Galactica) - It still hurts a bit, this vid is that good. I love the devastation of the world and the character of Dee. There's not much I can say that probably hasn't been said already about how amazing this vid is in all it's depressing glory.
[livejournal.com profile] obsessive24's I want to destroy something beautiful (Misfits) - It's a vid about a rapey-eyed tit-pissing cookie-munching corpse-watcher that can't tell the difference between romance and violence. What's not to love?
[livejournal.com profile] obsessive24's The Scream (Torchwood) - I could almost say that I'm sick of Nicky being so darn awesome and amazing at making vids, but I love them so much. This one is a freaky little exploration of Children of Earth with eyeball murderingly awesomeness.

[livejournal.com profile] thuviaparth's Etheric Messages (Fringe) - Wow, I am enthralled with this vid and all it's brillance. The feeling, clip choice, editing, colors, motion, and everything are amazing. It's part of the reason I started watching Fringe.

[livejournal.com profile] tearful_eye's Needs (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon; Hero; House of Flying Daggers; Memoirs of a Geisha) - This is a fantastic vid that I want to live in. The colors are lush and blend together to the point of it being difficult to pick out the different movies. The motion is breathtaking and the whole vid is EPIC AS HELL. The clip connections and interactions are startling in their perfection.
[livejournal.com profile] tearful_eye's Never Be (Criminal Minds) - It's disturbing and haunting, which I gather was the intent because the vid is extremely well focused. I don't watch the show, but I was right there with the vid without a second thought because I was immediately locked in by the emotion and editing. There are so creepy moments that sent chills up my spine and made me want to take a shower, but in a good way that let's me know how awesome the vid is.
[livejournal.com profile] tearful_eye's The Survivor (Band of Brothers) - The editing is quiet, yet effective. The pacing is great and the instrumental lends itself well to the vid. It's a sleek and well created.

Mondays are now my favorite day of the week. I get up super early (or just stay up all night) to go to McDonald's with my grandparents. There's a group of people from their church that meet at 6am for 2 hours to have coffee and talk. There's usually a dozen senior citizens (I call them cool old people in my head, but that might be offensive...) and every once in a while a younger person comes along. I totally love going. Everyone is so happy sweet. It's pretty much just the people I miss from when I went to church. For me, it's as close as I'll get to going back to church. I take my sketchbook, talk, listen, and drink a hugemongous caramel iced coffee.

The funniest part is how my grandfather goes to the register before we leave to pay. He's the only person I have ever heard of that can run a tab at McDonald's. It blows my mind how he's such a baller that he can get coffee for me, himself, and my gramma; 2 cherry pies for us to split; and an occasional cinnamon roll for my gramma and not pay until later. They were training a new clerk this morning, so when he listed off everything, she turned around to collect the items, but the other clerk explained that he already had his order and he was paying for it before he left. The girl was as amazed as I was the first time I went.

VID RECS:
[livejournal.com profile] croc_rocketfan's The Bells (Doctor Who) - A beautiful opening and bringing the Doctor fully in with the rising of the music. Great pacing and clip choice, as well as interesting parallels and overall progression. It never stops being awesome.

[livejournal.com profile] tallulah71's Hera has Six Mommies (Battlestar Galactica) - A beautiful interpretive dance-like vid about how the 6 women come together to form Hera. Just as Hera is the shape of things to come, I think this vid is the shape of things to come as well. There's an elegance of execution, planning, and forethought. It's a complex and interesting study. The remix track used brings in many layers of the songs all come together in the same way that all the women, Cylon and human, come together in the devastation and culmination of gaining and losing Hera.

[livejournal.com profile] tzegha's Dirty Hole (Life) - Kickass editing, inspired clip choice, and amazing thesis. It's about Charlie, his prison; Dani, her prison; Ted, his prison; and all the things that signify them.

[livejournal.com profile] sapote3's The Test (Torchwood) - It's like there Gwen and Tosh and this vid is the line between them.
[livejournal.com profile] sapote3's Teeth in the Grass (Doctor Who) - While it may shatter any illusions as to how awesome it would be to travel with the Doctor as a Companion, the music matches are excellent and there's beautiful moment in the 1:40s to watch for.

Having a snow day is so great. I get so much done.

VID RECS:
[livejournal.com profile] giandujakiss's Origin Stories (Buffy and Angel) - Commissioned by [livejournal.com profile] untrue_accounts, this vid hurts my brain with how amazingly intricate it is. I downloaded and watched it the first time seeing the Slayer/Vampire/It's Nikki Wood's fucking coat layer. I watched it the second time seeing the gender/It's Nikki Wood's fucking coat layer, then I refreshed my flist to find many recs and commentaries pointing out the race issues. Because I am dense sometimes, I watched again to see the race/It's Nikki Wood's fucking coat aspect. Everytime I watch it I see something else and that is the mark of a truly amazing vid.

Nicky's Piece of Me (RPS) - Well meshed sources, editing, and thought. I can't get over how well she was able to take Britney Spears' collection/life/videos and produce this incredibly telling, thought provoking vid that comes to a startling and plausible conclusion.

Last week I posted Sarah Silverman's song I'm F*cking Matt Damon and now Jimmy Kimmel's response - I'm F*cking Ben Affleck, along with Elizabeth Banks' parody - I’m Fucking Seth Rogen (NSFW).

It's interesting because a lot of people have been going back and forth with vid responses lately, including [livejournal.com profile] greensilver, who thinks Ianto won't dance, [livejournal.com profile] fan_eunice, who believes Ianto got his groove back, and [livejournal.com profile] kuwdora, who thinks Ianto dances with Weevils.

From now on all arguements will be settled in vid form.

And now onto much better and prettier things, like Supernatural's Sam and Dean:

1024x768 . 800x600

Jennifer Morrison, Grey's Anatomy, The Office's Pam, Torchwood, Veronica Mars, Vogue, Tricia Helfer, Stargate: Atlantis' John, Dexter, Justin Timberlake, and Supernatural icons )

Seem how my question on the request board is getting NOWHERE, I come to my flist with my problem ) It fixed itself somehow.

Also, someone needs to stop me from making a Heroes' Sylar vid to Dj Moule's Stronger Forest

Changed my layout ([livejournal.com profile] kiki_miserychic) to the closest thing I will ever get to a Christmas-y layout. Also, new userpic, which is funny because it’s true.

I turned in my Introduction to Mythology final this morning. It was supposed to a simple 3 page report on Gilgamesh, but it turned into an 8 page report with the last 5 about Spike from Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Oops. I also took my Math for Elementary School Teachers’ final today, so I only have Biology and Art History finals left.

I also succumbed and got an imeem account, so be my friend. :)

Torchwood – 1x09 – Random Shoes (Invisible Eugene) )

I just clicked a link to Jewel Staite’s blog thingy to read something about the Flanvention and freaking spoiled myself for something in the latter half of this season of Stargate: Atlantis.
