This is the first vid I made on my new laptop, Chuck, so it’s the first sans mouse. I finally have a DVD ripping system that works and doesn’t fall apart along the way. All my notes on this vid can be summed up, as per conversation with

It's like how you can tell what icon maker made what batch of icons (sometimes). And your style can grow and change and it's so intriguing.

Date: 2007-08-30 04:42 am (UTC)I'm always speechless after watching one of your vids, which is no so good for the feedbacking.
A couple of specific things I do want to compliment about this one, though: I really like how, in the opening, you combine the constant pullouts with the source motion to make all of the clips flow in one direction - paying off in the doors closing, to the door opening. It's smooth, but at the same time kind of challenges your equilibrium (which kind of sums up your vids as a whole, I guess.) Also love the cutting away and coming back - like to the marching or the crosshair. Gives the vid an awesome sense of musicality. Plus the song builds so beautifully into chaos with the war scenes.

Date: 2007-08-30 07:54 pm (UTC)I was hoping someone would comment on the pullouts so I can ask if it was noticable that some of them were in reverse. I tried to pick out sections of the clip that would still look like normal forward motion, but I worried that it was obvious.
I tried to work out a way to go from the smaller screen into the full widescreen of the source while not being tacky and having some reasoning behind it by using the doors from the source.
I swear those soldiers wanted to march to the beat of Nine Inch Nails. I barely had to do anything to make it match.
My vidding goal is to make someone puke after they watch my vid.

It's easy. All you need is just a lot of gooey entrails.

My next one will have lots of Reaver guts, so maybe I will succeed in making someone puke.

The way it builds up, but doesn't quite get that moment of release just like the movie.
I've never wanted someone to be able to shoot another person that much in my life.
