Date: 2009-08-15 11:00 am (UTC)When I first watched the vid I thought of it as Bootystyle's similarly fucked-up sibling. But now upon rewatch I'm seeing it much more as a strangely beautiful and moving tale, full of fairytale monsters, heroes and villains underpinned by the friendship between the sick man and the little girl. It feels a lot more innocent than Bootystle in a lot of ways, though no less beautiful. It's a gorgeous vid, and I totally need to hunt down the movie.

Date: 2009-08-19 02:05 am (UTC)this is such a gorgeous vid! i love everything about it. the contrast of the beautiful fairytale world with all those rich colours & fantastic happenings - and then the depressing hospital surroundings is amazing. and the movement & shiny, and ... *flails* i love it so much!
and then it's like the two worlds collide & merge, and the depressedness of reality (or something) invades the dream world - heartbreaking and still so lovely.
and tricky, WHEE!
*runs off to watch the movie*

Date: 2010-03-30 07:39 am (UTC)from what I can see, I love the look of it- the imaginary scenes have a really good surrealist quality to them, with the over-saturated colors (and crazy shit happening like trees lighting on fire, lol).

Date: 2010-03-31 05:43 am (UTC)The movie is always so sweeping and wistful in my memory, and I'm so intrigued by how you've played up the more disturbing, disjointed, and tragic aspects here, without ever being untrue to the overall feel of the movie. And I was especially fascinated with how you used that increasing level of "old film" at the end to bring everything back to the film-reel watching scene. I was so caught up in the added unsettling feel of the distressed film, that I had no idea it was going to dovetail so fittingly--it was a wonderful surprise that I still can't believe snuck up on me. ;D
