A hugemongous thank you to [livejournal.com profile] talitha78. ZOMG, I loves it. I shall certainly be using those voice posts.

I cut my finger fairly bad on a slicer at work earlier this week, so I won't be typing (or doing much of anything). It's a good thing I did the year end vidding meme last week.

26 - Life Opening (Life)

December
10 - Devil's Waiting (The Unit)
17 - Fairytale of New York (Moulin Rouge)

My favorite video this year (of my own):
Freedom Hangs Like Heaven because I feel like I grew and learned so much from it. My style feels more concise and narrowed in and my personal process of vidding in general changed. I became aware that my process is far different than the majority of vidders.

My best video this year
Stronger Forest is certainly my most known vid and I feel it's representative of my best work.

Video most underappreciated by the universe, in my opinion:
Devil's Waiting because The Unit is a rather small fandom of five people and Fairytale of New York, which was watched by two people that I know of.

Most fun video:
I made Throw It On Me in a day after the epic amount of time I spent on Freedom Hangs Like Heaven. I had so much fun letting loose with the song and the effects. It was an excerise to release built up frustration and have fun.

Video with single sexiest moment:
Jake Gyllenhaal having sex up against a wall in hyperpower, of course.

Hardest video to make:
Ramalama (Bang Bang) without a doubt was the hardest for me. It was the last vid I did in Window Movie Maker. That vid broke me of thinking working WMM wasn't that bad. There were so many glitches and crashes I still don't believe I was able finish. I wrote my own XMLs for it, which is probably what made it so difficult. The thing would not render, so I had to chunk it up every once in a while and reimport it. *kick WMM*

Most unintentionally *telling* video:
Volcano. The vid focuses on Shane's relationship with Carmen and Shane's relationship to her father. She wants so badly to not be like her father, but she's a mess. While making it, the subject was in front of my face and I couldn't see that while I was testing out my trial of Vegas, I was also putting much of my relationship with my own father into the vid. Our relationship is much the same: I don't want to be like my father. As silly as it sounds, it helped me to let go of chasing after the love of my father. I realized I'm never going to get it because it's just not there and fighting tooth and nail to not be like my father will only lead me to become exactly like him.

Coming Soon:
Working currently on a Firefly vid of River.

And in addition:
If there is any question you would like to ask me about any one of my vids, then go ahead! What I meant by a particular clip or sequence, why I chose to highlight that characterization, why I chose that song, what crack I was taking and where you can get some...anything. Anything you might like to know about how I made a vid, I shall do my best to answer. (I have a typing bitch, so no need to spare my finger).

Yeah, like Bill Gates has a few bucks.

If you don't mind my asking (or even if you do, I suppose), why don't you ever submit to awards sites? I realize awards themselves probably don't mean much to a vidder as good as you, but your vids - all of them - deserve a bigger audience, and awards sites can be one avenue to get them out there and bring in more viewers regardless of fandom.

It makes me frustrated to see you getting so few replies. To *anything*. (And I say that knowing full well that I haven't yet replied to a couple of those. *sigh*)

And is a sexy bitch.

I've been starting to apply to awards sites, like Driver Picks The Music Vidding Awards (http://viddingawards.wolfpupsden.us/index.html). I only recently began to enter my vids. The first being For the Damaged Coda (http://kiki-miserychic.livejournal.com/66582.html), which won and gave me a boost of confidence. For a long time I didn't because I was intimidated by the whole process. I'm extremely insecure when it comes to vidding (and most of life). I supposed I don't enter often because I think people would point and laugh.

...awards sites can be one avenue to get them out there and bring in more viewers regardless of fandom.
I never thought about it that way, but now I can see how it would help.

To make myself feel better about nearly no one watching my last couple vids, I assumed it was because of the holiday and traveling. :) That and with such a small viewing audience, I don't expect much.

Well, personally I haven't watched *any* vids over the holidays. Barely any at all in December now that I think of it. I'm making my way through the FNVA entries right now, and those are the first vids I think I've watched this month. Just haven't had any time at all online. I'm sure there are lots of other people who have been the same way. My fewest replies to a vid over the past year was - you guessed it - a December release. So maybe it's just a time-of-year-thing.

I'm glad to see that you're entering things. Hopefully more people will discover the genius of your vids through that.

One thing I've learned in the time I've been submitting to awards sites is to see it all in context. Different judges look for different things and just because a vid doesn't win doesn't mean it's devoid of merit. That's why it's good to submit to several sites and sort of test the waters. Two others to check out: The Art of Vidding Awards (http://www.buffyandangelart.co.uk/ava/updates.htm) (judged by [livejournal.com profile] thedothatgirl and Shona) and The Path of the Heart Awards (http://poth.awards.free.fr/) (judged by [livejournal.com profile] buffyann and [livejournal.com profile] millylicious.

Most people have lives. :) December is not a good month for posting. There's also a huge influx of yuletide fanfic uploads and SGA fic.

I'll check those out. Thanks. :)

What made you choose the song for your Ramalama (Bang Bang) vid? I think it works so incredibly well, but I don't know that I would have associated it with Dexter before seeing that vid.

I had watched a dance routine on So You Think You Can Dance:

And fell in love with the song. The unzip my body, take my heart out / cause I need a beat to give this tune lyrics are what sold me as it being perfect for Dexter. And the hard straight beat on the bottom, with the other layers of great editing possiblities.

Wow, that was an awesome routine. I've never watched that show before, I might have to start tuning in. :D

I just thought it was such an original choice for a Dexter vid, and I absolutely love the song now and can't associate with anything but Dexter. :)

I love watching it in the summer, but I'll never admit to it in real life. :)

Ooh I missed a lot of these. Will be watching those from fandoms I know first but I'll definitely be checking out Freedom Hangs Like Heaven as well since you pinged it as your favorite. :)
