In the name of procrastination, I'm succombing to the masses and gakking the vid commentary meme from Nicky and everyone else on my flist.
If you want commentary on any of my vids; if you're curious about my vidding processes, hairpulling, or goals; or questions about editing, effects, and whatnot, then post a comment and I'll get back to you. Seriously, if you let me, I will go on and on about vidding.

How hard was it to make? How did you do absolutely everything and anything with that vid because seriously, that vid, totally my favorite.
*hugs it close to her bosom*

Date: 2007-10-22 07:42 pm (UTC)During the Zane arc I decided I wanted to do a Sylar vid, but I wasn't sure what song to use. I was listening to a bunch of remixes and feel in love with Stronger Forest. I realized that the remix would be perfect for Sylar and immediately began to vid it in my head. The hard part was making what I saw in my head in the vid. It was rather difficult to make for me because I thought it was a bit crazy even for me. It was a lot of tedious things that took an extremely long time to do. It was something new for me technically, which I enjoyed. The first minute of the vid took longer to do than the rest put together. The textures were an idea I had for a while. Originally I wanted to make one continous texture that went over the frame, but decided hard cuts worked better.

Date: 2007-10-19 03:28 am (UTC)For the most part the song nags me until I vid it. With Stronger Forest, Rockafellaskank, and The McKay Song I was introduced to them on a musical appreciation level before I considered vidding them. I knew I wanted to vid Hyperpower, Ramalama (Bang Bang), God's Gonna Cut You Down, SexyBack, Silent Night, and I Hear the Bells, as soon as I heard them. But for Volcano and For the Damaged Coda I had a concept and thought back on my music library to find something that would suit what I wanted to do.
Mostly, I start off with the song and what I want to say comes after, but Stronger Forest was an extreme departure from my usual process. I clipped out and watched all of the Sylar parts of season one and came up with a map of what I wanted to cover and where I wanted to go. I had been listening to Stronger Forest around the time when I got the urge to do a Sylar vid. I had my list of what I wanted to do, but I was unsure of the song to use until it hit me that the song I had downloaded previously was be perfect.

Date: 2007-10-18 12:27 pm (UTC)Oh! I know what I wanted to ask! I've never seen the L word, so this might be a stupid question but is there outside source in Volcano? Or was that all your manipulation. I love the way it's so dreamlike. If I didn't know it was a vid I would've thought it aired on the show like that in some sort of dream sequence.

Date: 2007-10-22 07:44 pm (UTC)I know I have a ton more questions for you but they're really more along the lines of how does your brain come up with such innovative ideas and you probably can't answer that.
Ask away. I love talking about vidding. :) Also, if you'd like more involved descriptions of the effects and such, feel free to ask.
For Volcano there's no outside source. It's all in show and it wasn't a dream sequence. The character, Shane, was spiraling and was drinking heavily and doing drugs. The show stayed fairly straightforward with the footage. They used one blur in the whole episode. I went crazy with experimenting with the effects. I had gotten up at 5am to go do a church thing to make my grandmother happy, so I was full of pent of tension, which came out really well.
