I've finished all my finals, having e-mailed my ten page one last night and did my Religion one this morning. I feel so much lighter.

When we started putting up the Christmas tree I was excited, but I got irrationally pissed off after, then I wanted to cry. I've had some shitty Christmas holidays, so maybe I'm trying to hard to have a good one. Whatever, bring on the eggnog!

Working with high quality vid source is a lot different than what I'm used to working with. I never realized that my source is semi-shitty. I have 30GB on my laptop for my next vid, which is a Christmas vid. Not exactly a happy cutesy Christmas vid, but as close as I can allow myself to get. Of course just as I'm gearing up to start my Christmas vid I get an idea for a another one. It's a really screwed up Supernatural one that will offend a few people, so I'm thinking I'll stick with the one I've started.

VID RECS:
Abbey's Better Off (due South) - There's so much action, quirky editing, energy, building tension, and excellent motion that I must warn that it may give you a heart attack.

Dayln's The Scars of All I'll Ever Know (Supernatural) - Beautiful manipulating, coloring, effects, and layering that conveys so much meaning.

[livejournal.com profile] hollywoodgrrl's (Boulevard of) Broken Songs (Doctor Who) - An amazing vid that takes the concept of a mashup and runs with it to awesometown.

KC's Battlestar Inferno (Battlestar Galactica) - Colorful fun with effects, beats and handclapping.

My friends and I were out Friday at the lamest bar known to man. It was a friend of a friends' birthday, so we took her out. Of course my stupid self didn't know her dad was the mayor of my town. I am made of epic fail. She's fun, but I wish I'd known before. That way I wouldn't have done half the things I did. It was her first time in a club so we took her to a tame one. No gay bars. :)

My grandparents are on vacation again, which means I'm cooking Thanksgiving Slapsgiving dinner for the family... If you don't hear from me it's because I burned my house down. Seriously. I didn't know it took days to defrost a turkey and I'm thinking about taking my mini-blow torch to it.

VID RECS:
[livejournal.com profile] astartexx's Jesus Christ [alt: Wood and Nails] (Supernatural) - Every choice made by the vidder feels right from the black and white to the editing choices to the clip choice to the framing to the use of the lyrics to everything. It makes my heart squeeze tight. After this vid I think I need a hug as much as Dean does.

[livejournal.com profile] butterfly's Digging the Heroine (Heights) - It's understated, like the movie itself. The vid weaves come of the threads from the movie together.

gwyneth and jo's I Remember (Charlie Jade) - Striking and stark visuals with a harsh mood. Don't let lack of fandom knowledge keep you away.

Eunice's And She Was (Doctor Who) - This is the Rose I remember and love.
Eunice's Don't Touch That Dial (Doctor Who) - This is my Martha.

Jessie's The River (Angel/Buffy the Vampire Slayer) - Smart use of the lyrics and quick editing with the drumbeats.

[livejournal.com profile] kazbaby's Eurydiceverse (Stargate: SG-1) - A layered and moody vid with so much under the surface.

kitty's On Top (Supernatural) - Great use of outtakes and other footage to create a cute and vaguely homicidal vid with a heart of gold.

Speranza's Lifetime Piling Up (Stargate: Atlantis) - Nice jump cutting, witty use of the lyrics, overlays, and creation of mood. It's adorable and endearing.

For the first time in a long time I'm vaguely relaxed. I have everything for my college classes done that can be done. It's weird. Sadly, my financial aid came through and I'm only getting $330. I can't freaking believe that's all I got.

I'm getting annoyed by one of my classmates that has children. One woman faults me for not having any. She said my semester is so much easier than hers because she has a son. OK... I understand that you have a child, but I work and student teach. You don't. Our lives are different, so we can't really compare them. Yet she still says she has a way harder life. Last week she said she got her son a bunch of videogames and he's done nothing but eat, sleep, and play them.

The halloween party and parade at preschool was adorable. The children were all dressed up and had fun. I wish I'd took my camera.

VID RECS:
dragonchic's Orchard of Mines (Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children) - The song and the spot on editing and pacing make the whole thing feel epic and amazing.

Brad's Goodnight Moon (Heroes) - Extremely creepy with deep and dark family issues. Amazing work from an ever evolving and growing vidder. There are many memorable moments in the vid that made me squee like a girl.

[livejournal.com profile] danegen's Ruiner (Angel) - This vid blew me away and made me wonder how I could have been so blind to the echoing from Connor to Spike with Angel and from Spike to Connor with Angel. It has sickly perfect pacing and flowing editing.

[livejournal.com profile] jarrow272's About Schroeder (Farscape) - Lyrical editing and motion that melds with the music to make a lovely display of Chiana's love.

Kitty's Sick (Resident Evil Trilogy) - So kick ass.

Nicky's What I've Done (Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children) - Even her supposed "mindless action" is pretty.

[livejournal.com profile] rhoboat's History Repeating (Doctor Who) - Fab intro of Nine and Ten, then their companions, witty parallelling and smart use of lyrics.

[livejournal.com profile] talitha78's Cobrastyle (Smallville) - OMGYES, Lex being awesome and hot. Great introduction of Lex, song choice, use of motion and quirky movements.

[livejournal.com profile] frivolity65's Danger Mouse set to Deee Lite's 'Groove Is In The Heart' (Danger Mouse) - Supercool concept and execution.

[livejournal.com profile] hollywoodgrrl's Agnus Dei (Doctor Who) - The music is so well interpreted with the flucuations and the coloring. This vid will make you feel the dark, deep despair of being the Doctor, while still making you love him.

Kitty's Stupid Girl (Supernatural) - Beautiful coloring, extremely cool editing, and a believable AU.

quixoticmisery's Hell on Earth (Zombie Fest) - Frantic energy that never stops with great blending of many sources.

VID REC:
[livejournal.com profile] hollywoodgrrl's Ouroboros (Doctor Who) - An experimental vid that is nearly a minute of mindblowing awesome.
kiki_miserychic: A Dinosaur and Kate Spade Shoes Fairytale (Default)
Stronger Forest (A retrospective character study of season one Sylar of "Heroes") was in the Nearly New show at Vividcon '07 and Blood Red Summer (an experimental season one and two character study of Veronica Mar’s Cassidy "Beaver" Casablancas) was in [livejournal.com profile] elynross’ Daughter of Experimental Vids (Where the Hell's the Box?!) show. It would seem that VVC has a thing for my vids about serial killers because Ramalama (Bang Bang) (season one Dexter character study) is the only one of my serial killer trilogy that did not go to VVC.

I decided the other day I was going to get a credit card to build my credit up for later in life. I’m nearly 21 and I have no credit history, so I figured I should build my credit history by getting a credit card. I got a thingy in the mail about student credit cards and Lib said to apply. I don’t plan on using it for anything because I know too many people my age up to their eyeballs in debt. I got a letter today saying that they won’t approve me for one because I have no credit history. Well yeah, that’s why I want a one of your student credit cards: to build my history. I think it’s hi-lari-ous that I get bunches of those preapproved credit cards in the mail and shred them, but when I actually want one, they won’t give me one.

VID RECS (last one from VVC, first two not):
[livejournal.com profile] humansrsuperior’s Sing for Absolution (Doctor Who) - Beautiful and interesting editing style with dreamlike transitions and coloring.

[livejournal.com profile] humansrsuperior’s You Cut Her Hair (Doctor Who) - This vid has such a breathtaking mood and the atmosphere with wonderful layers and color blending transitions, while the editing, style, and clip choice are perfect. This broke me and is probably my favorite Doctor Who vid ever.

VID RECS:
[livejournal.com profile] dayln03’s Overdose of You (Supernatural) - [livejournal.com profile] dayln03’s trademark candy cloud coloring, layering, effects, editing will kick your ass and leave you wondering if it really happened.

[livejournal.com profile] hollywoodgrrl’s Tabula Rasa (Doctor Who) – It has a thoughtful concept with wonderful execution through mood, style, and editing that hurts.

[livejournal.com profile] hollywoodgrrl’s A Question Mark (Doctor Who) - The music is put to great use paired with the effects and editing style. The portrayal of the Doctor and the little parallels are wonderful. There is nothing [livejournal.com profile] hollywoodgrrl could make that I wouldn’t watch.

[livejournal.com profile] kuwdora’s Imagine (Battlestar Galactica) – As a part of [livejournal.com profile] kuwdora’s Insane August Vidding Project, I requested a BSG vid to A Perfect Circle’s cover of Imagine for vid #1 of her learning and getting to know Final Cut. I’m not rec-ing it because it was made for me, I’m rec-ing it because it is a great mix of creepiness and underlying sincerity in Cylon form.

Lexcelsior’s Map of the Problematique (Smallville) – So amazingly intricate with hard edged editing.

[livejournal.com profile] talitha78’s Baby, It’s a Fact (Down Mix) (Kyle XY) – Let’s be honest, Kyle and Declan are madly in love, everyone knows it, and [livejournal.com profile] talitha78 proves it with cute and charming clip choice.

[livejournal.com profile] whereistheluv’s Push (Supernatural) – An understatedly emotional Oh Dean vid.

I got my grades for last semester and they’re not bad considering it was the first full semester I worked during, but I got a B in Mathematics for Elementary School Teachers and Art History II, and an A in Introduction to Biology (with my time consuming lab grade smushed in) and Introduction to Mythology. The sucky part is that I was .78% away from an A in Art History, not even a whole percent. Oh well, I thought I was going to fail Art History and I was worried about my Mathematics and Bio finals, so it’s all good.

I took a slight break from the internet over the holidays to spend time my family and friends. Thankfully, the family didn’t fight as much as I thought. All my Christmases were great and my New Years was awesome too.

I decided to finish the season one Dexter character vid if it killed me. When I finish, I’ll slowly go through my backlog of lj posts, emails, messages, etcetera, so hopefully I’ll be caught up soon so to speak. I don’t have much of the vid left either; just some tinkering, beta-ing, and then saving. It’s crazy and weird, so I’m not sure it will go over well. I’ll have a rough cut soon if anyone wants to check it out and give me their opinion...

I’m behind on feedback because I don’t watch vids while I vid, but I do have a rec from before I went into hibernation:

VID REC: [livejournal.com profile] bradcpu’s My Little Drum - A House vid with amazing music, just the right touch of Christmas, sadness, happiness... It has a nice flow and great clip connections, overlays, and it takes the whole first season and presents it beautifully.

Changed my layout ([livejournal.com profile] kiki_miserychic) to the closest thing I will ever get to a Christmas-y layout. Also, new userpic, which is funny because it’s true.

I turned in my Introduction to Mythology final this morning. It was supposed to a simple 3 page report on Gilgamesh, but it turned into an 8 page report with the last 5 about Spike from Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Oops. I also took my Math for Elementary School Teachers’ final today, so I only have Biology and Art History finals left.

I also succumbed and got an imeem account, so be my friend. :)

Open call for any and all vid recs for the new Doctor Who series. I finished watching the first season and I’ve already watched the second, so I’m looking for some good vids to watch to make my DW vid feel inferior.

School and work are going well. They hired some new people, so after they get trained, hopefully, I won’t have as many hours. On the other hand, less hours means less money, but more hours means less time for school and life in general. Most people already know this, but going to school and working in hard, yo.

Last night I was tired and bored out of my mind with no people to wait on and I was way ahead of schedule because I closed the bakery, then I came out to partially close the deli. Mostly I cleaned the deli because I hate not having something to do. You could have eaten off the windows of the case (if you’re into that kinda thing). A new Walmart opened up around here, so business has seriously slowed down. I worked Thursday 12 to 9 and usually I’d have 20 customers an hour, but now that the hugemongous Walmart has a deli/bakery/hot foods thing, we had about 20 customers the whole time I was there. I’ve never really had a job before, but I’m thinking people are going to be let go and the way the schedule hours will get scaled back even more now, so I’m going to apply to a daycare in town and see if they have anything. It’s about 5 feet from where I work now, it’s close to home, and it’s actually in the field I’m going to college for, so those are pluses. That way if my hours do get cut down a lot, I can just have 2 part-time jobs.

I really, truly don’t care if it’s true or not because the thought of Isaiah Washington choking Patrick Dempsey and calling T.R. Knight a bitch is funny, yet distrubing. When I read it, it made me think of Washington’s character in Out of Sight.

I’m feeling much better now and I’m back to just feel tired and crappy like regular now, as opposed to sick, tired, and crappy. While I was sick I mainlined the first season of Doctor Who. I love it and it makes me love season two even more. I finally understand everyone’s love of Captain Jack. I really have nothing else to say because I haven’t really processed it having watched 13 episodes in 2 days. I’m contemplating a season one Doctor Who vid to Kate Havnevik’s Unlike Me (Acapella), but I really, really shouldn’t because I have three vids started right now, which is bad enough.

The coolest music video you will ever see in your life (Ok Go's Here We Go Again)

Today is my first day off in 11 days. Saturday and Sunday I worked 9 hour shifts and worked 39 hours total for the week. They really wanted to get the most out of having me work part-time I guess. Last week they took me off the probationary period thingy and hired me permantly after about 3 weeks, so yay for me. Last night I only worked 4 to 9, then came home and took a final. Not fun. I got a B, which isn't too bad, but I had an A for everything else in class, so it should all even out to an A.

I'm halfway done with a Doctor Who vid of Doomsday and it made me realize how invested I was in that show without really knowing it.

Neptune Pirate Radio put up the Kyle Gallner interview the 18th, so go listen if you haven't already.

Lib noticed I was watching Doctor Who the other day and told me that a woman she works with watches it too. A while back the woman talked about how she was pissed off because the doctor changed. She had no idea the Doctor changed every season...

This week my life has been studying for finals/tests and going to some gay, haunted, burned down orphange in the woods where some kids died or something with giant pussy jackasses that flicked ashes from the front seat into my lap in the back seat because it's so hard to get them out of window.

One of my professors for my summer classes makes me wanna scream. Xilisoft DVD Ripper Platinum 4 also makes me want to scream. As does my current vid. And some other people too.

Yesterday I posted Blood Red Summer (experimental character study of Cassidy "Beaver" Casablancas) and today I read PopGurls Interview: Veronica Mars' Kyle Gallner. It was really great to read that some of the things I was trying to get across in my vid were things that the actor himself thought. The interview is cute in and of itself too. He talks about Big Love, skateboarding, and fears, as well as Veronica Mars. It's a good read. I still can't wait for the Neptune Pirate Radio Podcast with him.

VID REC: [livejournal.com profile] bradcpu's Bullet With Butterfly Wings (Buffy the Vampire Slayer Action/Spike study)
Excellent motifs, use of beat, effects, interplay between clips, flow, pacing, everything. An amazing Spike vid that just has something.

Random TV: The first episode of Dane Cook's Tourgasm was awesome. Of course. I was suprised how much I had missed seeing Gary Gulman. I like him on Last Comic Standing, but I didn't think I'd ever see him in anything again. It pays to be friends with Dane Cook. Doctor Who - The Satan Pit is now one of my favorite episodes.

Netflix needs to hurry up with the rest of the season 2 DVDs of Deadwood because I can't watched season 3 yet. I'm two episodes behind on Rescue Me because Lib wants to me wait and watch them with her. Entourage, the 4400, The Closer, and Lucky Louie are sitting on my desktop now too.

Since when is there so much tv stuff to watch in the summer? Damn you HBO.

Random RL: My douchebag dad, Rick, won't return my phone calls (hense the douchebaggery) and I think it took me off his insurance too (even more douchebaggery).

I spent the evening at Becky's (my mom) , which was odd because we didn't fight and it was actually kind of nice. 6 hours with her and it wasn't until she drove me home that she got on my nerves. She drives like old people fuck. It took her an hour to go from her house to where I live when it takes a normal person 35 minutes tops.

I love it when people drunk dialed me. It's funny.
