Total of 8 vids, including a collaboration.
My favorite video this year (of my own)
I like everything I made this year, but Let's Dance to Joy Division is my favorite. I love these characters and I usually don't get to vid this kind of music. I think I'll end up vidding Supernatural Wayward Sisters more in the future too.
Least favorite
As I said, I like everything I made this year, so You Should Be Dafting just by process of elimination. I probably could have done more, but whatever, I still like it.
Most successful
Blow (Deconstructed) just because it went to in depth and I had more people than usual tell me they were touched by it. And a couple people said it made them want to watch the show again. Supernatural is my sparkling garbage and I love it.
Video most under-appreciated by the universe, in my opinion
New Rules because that shit is good and more people should like it.
Video with single sexiest moment
I would say 2:30ish to 2:42 in i am a ridiculous person, then I completely ruin it with the next clip for funsies.
Biggest vid fail
For sure there's a bit in Believer at around 2:05 where I wanted the timing to be different. There's a guy hitting the bars used to lower the casket into the ground because they weren't working. Unfortunately the exact second I wanted to hit the beat was corrupted and I couldn't get the bit to encode without a frame of black. I gave in and left it off the beat.
Hardest video to make
a horse with no name because I had a difficult time deciding what to leave out. There's much I didn't put in. I could make a whole entire other vid from what I didn't use in this one.
Most unintentionally *telling* video
That Time started out intentionally telling, but then when I finished it I realized a lot more of my life issues came through than I had thought. A lot of Eleanor's backstory is similiar with mine, which I knew going in, but I didn't realize maybe I want my future to be like her's too.
Things I've learned
I did so much research on tension (check out the link for panel notes), which is great knowledge. I tried out those concepts and they're great to have in mind when I'm vidding.
I kept using my vidding bullet journal that I've used since 2017. I kept tracking my vidding activity, time, and progress on vids. I crowdsourced and complied a list of all the parts of vidding, then color coded them so I could fill in time tracking.

15 minutes a day working on something vidding related was an achievable goal and I logged what vidding process I did. A lot of the time all I do is listen to my vid song playlist while I'm in the shower. That's all I need to keep myself active, then I can get back into doing the heavy parts of vidding, like the actual editing. I did a lot of research and learning when I wasn't in a creative place in my vidding cycle.
(monthly tracking for 2018)
I was consistent doing at least 15 minutes of vidding related something. I didn't vid a lot towards the end of the year, but I don't feel any guilt over doing other things. I didn't have the notion or time to edit, but I kept up with listening to my vid songs, which is better than giving it up entirely and whinying about how I'm quiting vidding. It's more that I'm not in a creating mood or frame of mind. I might cycle back around to it, but I don't want to push myself yet.
(vidding pipeline, gannt chart, resolutions, and due dates)
Things to work on
I want to continue using my vidding bullet journal for tracking and vidding. I have a better understanding of what spreads are helpful to me and what I tried out last year that didn't work out. I'm going to continue limiting myself to only 3 works in progress. It kept me from abandoning vids for another shiny vid idea. I want to collaborate on another vid. I want to do more socializing too, like commenting and reccing and leaving feedback. I want to start putting a couple seconds of black at the beginning of vids again too.
Vid projects I definitely want to get finished this upcoming year
I want to do vids for the new Fanworks con. I have some emotionally heavy (for me) vid ideas I want to work on too.
Resolutions for 2019
Looking back at last year's resolutions, I went to Vividcon, made a vid masterlist, had only 3 works in progress at a time, didn't work on a tong term non-preferred vid idea, and didn't edit every month. This year I want to continue having only 3 works in progress, have my vid posts ready before the con, and update AO3 with all my vids.
If there is any question you would like to ask me about any one of my vids, then go ahead! What I meant by a particular clip or sequence, why I chose to highlight that characterization, why I chose that song, what crack I was taking and where you can get some...anything. Anything you might like to know about how I made a vid, I shall do my best to answer.
