summary: The beauty of a living thing is not the atoms that go into it, but the way those atoms are put together.

[deGrasse Tyson]
We are all connected;
To each other, biologically
To the earth, chemically
To the rest of the universe, atomically

[Feynman]
I think nature's imagination
Is so much greater than man's
She's never going to let us relax

[Sagan]
We live in an in-between universe
Where things change all right
But according to patterns, rules,
Or as we call them, laws of nature

[Nye]
I'm this guy standing on a planet
Really I'm just a speck
Compared with a star, the planet is just another speck
To think about all of this
To think about the vast emptiness of space
There's billions and billions of stars
Billions and billions of specks

[Sagan]
The beauty of a living thing is not the atoms that go into it
But the way those atoms are put together
The cosmos is also within us
We're made of star stuff
We are a way for the cosmos to know itself

Across the sea of space
The stars are other suns
We have traveled this way before
And there is much to be learned

[deGrasse Tyson]
I know that the molecules in my body are traceable
To phenomena in the cosmos
That makes me want to grab people in the street
And say, have you heard this?

[Sagan]
The beauty of a living thing is not the atoms that go into it
But the way those atoms are put together
The cosmos is also within us
We're made of star stuff
We are a way for the cosmos to know itself

(Richard Feynman on hand drums and chanting)

[Nye]
To think about all of this
To think about the vast emptiness of space
There's billions and billions of stars
Billions and billions of specks

[Sagan]
The beauty of a living thing is not the atoms that go into it
But the way those atoms are put together
The cosmos is also within us
We're made of star stuff
We are a way for the cosmos to know itself

Across the sea of space
The stars are other suns
We have traveled this way before
And there is much to be learned

Science geekery never looked so pretty! :p

Wow, first, what an awesome track! Feynman samples! Awesome!

I'm going to say something (possibly) weird: I really liked watching this without any fandom knowledge at all, it made me go into the pretty patterns and the visual-concept connection flow... like a fractal! :D Very satisfying viewing on that level, which is not to say I think it would have been less satisfying with more knowledge--just that I felt really content and complete watching it.

They should play this at a comedown party after a rave... if there still were raves. *mourns the 90s*

Yep that got a big Wow! from me! I found myself open mouthed and stingy eyed, couldn't help smiling at the wonder of it.

I immediately saved a copy - and I hardly ever do that.

This is wondrously beautiful. Thank you :)

Oh wow dude, oh wow. I don't watch the show, and honestly don't really have any intention of doing so which is why it took me far too long to get around to watching this but my god, it's one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard and I got chills watching this. I'm sure I'd get more out of it if I knew the series, but in some ways, not knowing it, almost added to the arresting, breathtaking nature of the vid - these people, these specs, I don't know, loving and living and dancing and dying, like atoms on the screen.

In some ways, I feel the visuals were an amazing video "soundtrack" to the song. I want to watch it on repeat forever. <3

I'm completely in love with the flow of movement in this vid, it just sucks you right in. I've never seen this show, but the whole of the vid is gorgeous and I'll prolly always think of Stargate as that shiny, pretty show now :) ♥

I love the remix, which I'd heard before. Using it as a vid track is a stroke of genius. Gorgeous, gorgeous work.

This is lovely. I've only seen a very little of SGU so I mainly enjoyed this as a general "people in the vastness of space" thing and it was just awesome, in multiple meanings of the word.

I don't remember how I found this, but I've watched this vid many times now and I wanted to let you know it is one of the most beautiful, moving vids I've ever seen. The music is perfect, the cutting is amazing, and the whole flow is just - I dunno how to explain it. It works. Really, really well.

(Also it got me into the show.)

Oh this is so lovely. Not because I love the show (which I've never seen, so maybe?) but just the push and pull of all of them together and part of SPAAACE. Science geekery, wonder and a really brilliant remix. So so awesome to watch a million times.

Just realised, a bloody year too late, that I never left a comment to this - I still don't really know what to say about it, but it's brilliant and beautiful and makes me cry. Flawed as it is, this is what I love about the show - people, real people, living and dying and loving in the vastness of space. They're so small and the universe is so unimaginably large; but it matters, their lives matter and the things they make together matter. This vid is perfect.

Would it be possible to get a re-upload? The sendspace link has expired, and the BAM one isn't working for me. *hopeful eyes*

OMG when beccatoria made her Symphony of Science vid (Once Upon a Time) I didn't realize you'd also done one (and maybe given her the idea)! So incredible! The fact that there's an actor in common between the two shows makes the echo even stronger.

I have no idea what's going on in the source, but the themes in this vid are so clear and coherent. People = stars = atoms = life. It's visually stunning -- both deeply cosmic and deeply humane.

It makes me sad that you think Rise didn't succeed -- I think it's so fiercely defiant of the show's message and passionately steadfast about ROBOT NETWORKS (like, the Cylons' insurgency in the vid mirrors OURS). But I love this one!
