This is so fantastic hon! You always always blow me away! I was never a huge fan of the Royal Tenenbaums, but I do love Wes Anderson's visual style SO MUCH. (What's not to love, it's gorgeous.) And this video has made me want to re-watch and reassess this movie, hahaha. That is a FEAT my friend! Love the choppy beaty edits! It's all magical and stuff! You rock!

Yeah I completely agree and I've loved all of his other movies. I can't figure out why I didn't like this one. Of course I've probably only seen it once. I think it's time to find out the reason behind that mystery.

This is was first Anderson movie I loved. Then I went back to watch Bottle Rocket and Rushmore. Then I immediately flocked to The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou, The Squid and the Whale, Hotel Chevalier, and The Darjeeling Limited. Some people don't like The Royal Tenenbaums at all though.

Ah, there were only a few vids I got to *watch* at Club Vivid and this was one of them! I don't know the movie, but this really brings forward a strong sense of the character while still being fun for dancing -- the best of both worlds.

This was great. It was interesting to see that you didn't let the pounding beat push you to cutting super-fast. Definitely helped me follow what's going on. Love the color shifts in time with the vocals around 0:55 and the seemingly endless makeout montage that followed. The staggered cuts on the otherwise static clip starting at 1:30 were also very cool - you have a knack for interpreting music in new and innovative ways, which always makes your vids such a treat to watch.

I've only sort of half-seen this film but I remember really liking the Paltrow/Wilson dynamic (or character equivalent thereof) so it was really cool to see a vid on that. I love your cutting in this, it's so jagged until she sees him at 2:00, and the gorgeous colouring melts in, and I just love the way she cuts/walks in. The whole 2:20 - 2:32 segment is incredibly emotionally draining but really forms the backbone of the vid and I love that it ends in a happy place. Yay!

I loved this last year at Club Vivid, and I just enjoyed watching it again. A few parts I liked:

* The slow tapping fingers at the beginning, and the credit panel.

* :14 - the shot on "sneak away to the Philippines" seems to connect to the last shot to me. I like it.

* The color in time with the vocals around :54

* The cuts back and forth with the nude poster around 1:27

* At 2:00, how you slow down and linger on that shot, and how you keep it interesting with the color change - it sort of washes over you. It's very emotional and well done.

* The jump cuts at 2:13 to 2:17 and at 2:22 to 2:26. You really master that technique and use it to great effect. I felt that while he wanted a piece of her, there were sympathetic parallels drawn between the two of them. I thought there was a sly turnaround, showing how wanting a piece of her was a destructive force on him.
