Vid Title: the girl or the weapon? Vidder: kiki_miserychic, miserychic47@hotmail.com Musical Artist: Michael Andrews Fandom: Firefly/Serenity Summary:Who we gonna find in there when she wakes up? The girl? Or the weapon?
The tech here is very impressive, but far and away my favorite thing about the vid is how you used the tone of the music to reflect River's mental state so well.
The first time through the vid, I just sat there wide-eyed - just sort of along for the ride - wondering what you were going to throw at me next visually. But I rewatched several times, picking apart the layers and connections (I'm sure there are many more to explore). There's so much depth here.
I love how, when it's good for River (mentally), it's pretty, it's simple, but still sort of askew and confusing. And when it's bad, it's ALL bad - in waves. You get this inescapable, claustrophobic feeling.
I think my favorite moment is the fade to blue and awesome sense of horrorific, shattered reality from :52 to 1:00. Also, AWESOME connections around 1:22, 1:40, and 1:48. And all through the connections, you keep that mood of confusion and being sort of swept along. The section starting at 1:50 is another Wow. Schnikes. Also, I love how, through it all, the internal and external motion mirrors the flow of the music so well (like in that overlay at 2:03)
The tech here is very impressive Thanks. My widdle brain finally was able to accomplish what I wanted effects-wise.
...how you used the tone of the music to reflect River's mental state so well. There's something about the Donnie Darko score that just says River to me.
