The mall. Seth was in the mall. Seth was shopping in the mall. Seth was shopping in the mall with Summer. It's not that he'd never been in the mall becuase there were a choice handful of establishments that he approved of. He'd been places with Summer, even in public, but the mall was a sacred place for Summer's people. It was like going to temple.
The mall was littered with plastic palm trees and fountains. While Seth loved the wishing and the penny thing, he wondered what the point of the trees were. Hello, real ones outside.
"Earth to Cohen. Do you realize what's going on?" Summer had stopped in midstep in the plaza to turn and stare at him.
"What?" Seth twisted around and walked back a few steps. Summer was wearing her "oh no you didn't" face, which meant business.
"I mean we're in the mall with everyone looking at us and you're not even paying attention. I cancelled my plans with Marissa today. This is important to me. This is, like, the unvieling of my new boyfriend to the world, so make it good." Summer adjusted all the name brand piece of her wardrobe starting with her purse and ending with her shoes.
"Oops," Seth tried to explain. For a split second Seth thought that he was going to have to duck and cover, but Summer regained her composure by flashing a Crest bright smile.
"Where you you want to go, Seth?" Summer motioned around the surrounding stores.
"Well, I just got a new 6 disc changer and I'm having trouble deciding the perfect ones. It's hard to figure out which are worthy..." Seth was cut off by Summer's hand over his mouth.
"Ok, music store."

"Those can't be sanitary." Summer watched with an upturned lip, wrinkles be damned. Seth was grooving with a set of headphones wrapped around his head. His body was spasming in time to the beat emitting from the foam.
"Huh?" Seth pulled off the headset.
"Let's go somewhere," Summer guided her demin skirt closer than appropriate to Seth's khakis, "else."
"Ok." Seth squeeked and made a quick exit, practically dragging Summer by the hand.
~//~
"This wasn't what I had in mind." Seth looked around at the racks of colored tank tops, flipflops, sunglasses, bags, shorts, and other acessories.
"I know baby, but since you love those label t-shirts with the cute little sayings on them, I thought 'why not step it up to something more,'" Summer searched for the right word that wouldn't offend, "presentable." There was a hint of humor and sarcasm, but it was dull and more of a show than anything.
"Love you too, Sum." Seth joked. He was prepared to write off the entire chain of Aeropastle, along with American Eagle, when he saw the t-shirts his girlfriend had been talking about.
~//~
"If you're trying to make me over, consider it a done deal." Seth modeled his new green shirt with riased white writing for the mirror. It was Summer's full-length, so there was nothing to be missed.
"It's not a make over, it's a make better." Summer laughed as Seth continued to watch himself flex his underdeveloped muscles.
"Aw, you'd love me even if I was fashion disabled." Seth looked at Summer through her reflection.
"What do you mean if?" Summer laughed and again and they desolved into a pillow fight.
