Could a body close the mind down
Stitch a seam across the eye
If you can be good, you’ll live forever
If you’re bad, you’ll die when you die
Hearing only one true note
I'm the one and only sound
Unzip my body, take my heart out
'Cause I need a beat to give this tune

Ouu ou
Ouu ou
Ouu ou

(Unzip my heart)

Ouu ou
Ouu ou

And if I need a rhythm
It’ll be to my heart I listen
If it don’t put me too far wrong
(And if I and if I)
And if I need a rhythm
It’s gonna be to my heart I listen
If it don’t put me too far wrong

Everybody smile, please
Nobody pay no mind to me
Finger in position on the switch
A little flash photography

Taking a picture of you
(To my heart)
Taking a picture of
Taking a picture of me
Taking a picture

Ramalama, bang bang
Flash bang
Big bang
Bing bong
Ding dong
Dom dom do dom dom

With a hammer bang bang
Flash bang
Press gang
Bing bong
Ding dong
Hum hum ho Hum Hum

With a system of a bang bang
(With a system of with a system of with a system of a big bang, crash bang, big bang, big bang, crash bang)
Bang bang
Crash bang
Big bang
Boing boing
Boing boing
Dum dum do dum dum

Keep on, keep on
Keep on, keep on

And if I and if I need a rhythm
(And if I need a rhythm)
Gonna be to my heart I listen
And if I and if I need a rhythm
(And if I and if I need a rhythm)
It's gonna be to my heart I listen
And if I and if I need a rhythm
(And if I and if I need a rhythm)
It's gonna be to my heart I listen
(Need a rhythm, need a rhythm, need a rhythm, need a rhythm, need a rhythm, need a rhythm)

And if I and if I need a rhythm

Keep on, keep on
Keep on, keep on
Keep on, keep on

Blah! I really don't want to watch until I've seen the show, so excuse the looking-away in the meantime. I've got the whole season downloaded so it's just a matter of finding the time to watch them. Of course, it being you, I don't need to actually watch it to know the vid is a hundred kinds of awesome.

But anyway... will be back later with some context. :)

This song has such a powerful, hypnotic rhythm and your editing works so well with it! I like the meshing of images that happens in a number of places...but I'm thinking particularly of the end where you have a string of scenes with water and blood. Love the pairing of the fast pan at 0:40 to the "die" lyric -- matches the vocal perfectly. And the "taking a picture of you" sequence with his box of slides and memories...that's so appropriate.

Oh, wow! That was amazing! Superb job! Just, wow. All the little details just blew me away. (I loved the smiley-face outline that appears on the slide to the beat.)

I'm just now catching up on the vids my f-list has been making, so this is a little late...

But you want to hear something REALLY weird though? And it's gonna sound like total bullshit. But I swear, it's not. I was just getting ready to start vidding this song...to Dexter. No, seriously. I'm really glad I hadn't actually started laying down clips, just did an outline...because this is so much better than anything I would have done, lol! I don't even know anyone in real life who *knows* that song, let alone *likes* it. Online fandom is awesome. And you completely win with this video. I love this. :)

First off, I love the music, and this vid bears repeat watching, as you fit *so* much in. I like a lot of the contrasts -- Dexter and the young budding serial killer, Dexter and his father, Dexter and his brother, the real bodies and the Barbie doll. And I think the effects you use are, for the most part, effective and not overdone/done simply for the sake of the effects. The pulsing blood smiley face was particularly memorable. *g* It's a fascinating, absorbing vid, which I will watch again.

The only thing that sometimes felt off to me was following the pulsing beat a little *too* closely, at times. There were a few moments where I wanted a clip to last through a couple beats, make the rhythm more syncopated and irregular, as Dexter himself is irregular. I wanted the clip changes in some sections to be more unpredictable, more intuitive over straight regular clipping, to induce more of that uneasiness that all the blood and horrific images brought up. Although I suspect someone else might feel that the bright, bouncy beat and the regularity contrasted well with the horror, so. *g*

Oh my god, how did I miss this? I'm over here from your top five vids post, and man. I am in love with it. The song is amazing, and the pace is fantastic, and all the parallels, I mean, just wow. Definitely adding this to my things to rec, this is an amazing job! ♥

Just recently got into Dexter and am currently devouring everything I can find about it.

I have to say, this vid is freaking FANTASTIC!!! I've been watching it several times a day for about a week now and it just keeps getting cooler and cooler!

I love the music, it's just so unique and chaotic. The coloring and effects paired with the frenetic editing style you've chosen matches it perfectly.

Love the shot of Dexter spinning on his chair at 0:21, it's playful, yet creepy along with all the blood spatter photos.

I LOVE all of the intercut scenes, like Dex looking into the freezer at 0:43, the shots of him overlaid with Rudy at 0:55, but especially the shot of him in the water at 2:15, I thought that one in particular was a really neat way to show the duality of this character.

The part at 1:02 with the fingernails gives me chills the way it goes with the haunting vocals.

Adored the montage of Henry with young Dexter.

The part at 1:23 with him slashing the air overlaid with him standing still is brilliant.

The "Taking a picture of you" part is awesome. Loved how you stayed on the same shot of him looking at the box for a bit before going into the chorus with quick cuts of his victims. Also LOVED the highlighting of the smiley face in the blood.

The ending is my favorite part, with the lightning fast cuts, everything just seems so out of control and insane.

The very end with the abrupt cuts and black space is SO creepy and awesome.

Overall, this one of the best videos I've ever watched in any fandom. It's so unique, the editing style and effects you used really make it stand out.

Thank you so much for sharing this incredible vid. I'll definitely be re-watching it tons of times!

This is a visually adventurous, hauntingly abstract, disturbingly gorgeous portrait of a serial killer. I love how the highly impressionistic style captures Dexter's experience through images and rhythm more than through narrative. The friend I watched it with pointed out that the sections of methodical cuts to the beat mirror the meticulousness of his compulsion. We were wondering, though: some of those sequences seemed more out-of-sync with the audio than others. It could have been the video player stuttering -- or did you do that on purpose?

Outstanding editing, I was mesmerised by this, so completely surreal - like a glimpse into Dexter's brain. Brilliant brilliant video, I can't stop watching it \o/

This is the creepiest vid I've ever watched!

I'd only seen a couple of episodes of Dexter, but I feel like I got the FULL emotional impact of the entire season as I watched, and figured out what was going on. I gasped at watching the children in the blood, and was shell shocked for awhile after... which was actually a few years ago.

So... thanks! Every so often, if I want to be creeped out, I watch this, for the wonderfully surreal combination of music and images - dreamlike, nightmare-like, horrific, awe-full and beautiful.
