1. When did you first start vidding?
I've been vidding on and off for about 4 years, which is weird because you'd think I'd be better at it by now. I toiled away in WMM for a long time, so I'll use that as my excuse.
2. What would you say was your inspiration or motivation to start doing it?
It's rather bitchy, but I watched vids and thought most of them sucked. Then I found out that I could make vids using a program on my computer, WMM. I pretty much started vidding because I thought I could suck less than other people. My motivation to continue vidding once I started was that it became a creative outlet for me.
3. What do you or have you vidded?
Firefly/Serenity, Moulin Rouge, The Unit, Life, Battlestar Galactica, Stargate: Atlantis, Veritas: The Quest, Heroes, Jarhead, Supernatural, Angel, the L word, Dexter, New Doctor Who, Grey's Anatomy, Veronica Mars, House, Farscape, Six Feet Under, Better Than Chocolate, Queer as Folk US, Lost, Carnivále, Numb3rs, Smallville, Rescue Me, nip/tuck, and three I can't reveal because they're for VVC.
4. Where do you draw your inspiration from for vids? Is it the song? An idea? Someone else?
I'd say life itself. The song, the editing of a movie, the movement used in a commercial, a thought from a discussion, a concept from a college class, my messed up brain, everything.
5. What was your favorite video to make or do?
the girl or the weapon? because it was the culmination of many things for me.
6. What was your least favorite video to make or do?
Ramalama (Bang Bang) because WMM tried to break my soul.
7. Which video are you most proud of?
Stronger Forest because it feels like I used more of my artistic background in this one than in any other.
8. What's the best feedback or comment you've ever gotten?
Anything. Ever. I try to keep it a secret, but I'm a whore for feedback.
9. What is your opinion on clip theft?
I'm not as hardcore as other people. It doesn't bother me all that much. I think it's dishonest and rude, but I'm not going to actively hunt them down.
10. Favorite genre to vid to (comedy, angst, romance, drama, AU)?
I'm a sucker for a good character study. There's something about taking a character's actions and story arcs and pulling out parallels and flow that I love.
11. Favorite pairing(s)?
In vidding, I usually don't do relationship vids. I sometimes touch on them briefly. I guess I'd say Ronon/my pants.
12. What just drives you up the wall when it comes to vidding?
The distributing. I'm horrible at the rendering, encoding, uploading, posting, and waiting. I'm a needy person when it comes right down to it and I hate waiting. After I've finished a vid and have to go through the long process of distributing, I'm impetuous like I'm 80-years-old with only one lung.
13. Is vidding a pastime, hobby or something to help gain experience to do more later in life?
Vidding is my therapy. It's way cheaper and I have something left when I'm done.
14. What is your latest project or idea for your next vid if your muse isn't dead?
I've completed 3 (yes 3!) of my 4 VVC vids, so I'm working on a Cameron character study for Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles (longest and most difficult title ever), then I'll go back and do my Premiere.
15. Finally, what kind of words of wisdom would you offer someone who wants to vid/ is a newbie?
Don't take it too seriously for too long; do whatever you want.
