Kids sodomized at Abu Ghraib - Part 3 - a sort of summary of information

Seymour Hersh says the US government has videotapes of boys being sodomized at Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq.
"The worst is the soundtrack of the boys shrieking," the reporter told an ACLU convention last week. Hersh says there was "a massive amount of criminal wrongdoing that was covered up at the highest command out there, and higher."

Written complaints were made to high up officers and where the hell is the mainstream coverage of this information? I realize that there isn't solid proof because a majority of the video tapes and photos have been witheld or destroyed, but it is news nonetheless and the public has a right to know that this kind of thing is taking place in the name of America.

This is the kind of thing that makes me absolutely ashamed to be an American. People in my country have a habit of dismissing people who speak out against the wrongdoing of the government, saying, "if you don't like it, then get out of America." This was a country formed for the purpose of giving people an alternative to the unjust government and countries of the rest of the world. No one is truly American. What does that even mean anymore? If it means that these kind of actions take place from "model citizens doing their part to help their country", then America isn't worth the effort.

I have been contemplating joining the ROTC section of the army to have my college paid for in part, but this made me think again. I have been toying for the idea, going back and forth for some time, but I think this has closed the deal. I don't want to be part of a group if it's members can act in this manner.

Rumsfeld said, "There are other photos that depict incidents of physical violence towards prisoners, acts that can only be described as blatantly sadistic, cruel, and inhuman."

Millaszewski said, "U.S. military officials tell NBC News, the unreleased images, show American soldiers severely beating one Iraqi prisoner to near death; apparently, raping an Iraqi female prisoner; acting inappropriately with a dead body; and Iraqi guards apparently videotaped by U.S. soldiers raping young boys."

Sen. Lindsay Graham said, "We`re talking about rape and murder here, we`re not just talking about giving people a humiliating experience, we`re talking about rape and murder and some very serious charges."

Miklaszewski said, "Senator Carl Levin raised questions about one photo which appeared to show the abuse of prisoners may not be random, but part of routine operations."

Sen. Carl Levin said, "That the conduct we were witnessing and watching was not aberrant conduct of a few individuals, but part of an organized and conscious process to extract information."
