BSG - 4x12 - A Disquiet Follows My Soul

So yeah, I watched Edward James Olmos thinks that ugly acting is good acting. I think not all ugly acting is good acting. Especially not his lately. He's going in directions I don't feel as genuine.
At least Caprica had a scene. Her and Tigh playing happy family was weird as all get out. I'm the rare person that likes Caprica and Tigh together. I do hope Tigh is with Caprica and not just a replacement for Ellen, which would be fucked up. Caprica is one of my favorite characters and I hope she is happy at the end of the series. Although I'm doubting anyone will be happy at the end of the series.
I like the new nurse character, I hope she's going somewhere as a secondary character, even though she might kill some Cylon in the process. She only likes human babies and doesn't care for the Hippocratic Oath (or the BSG version).
I've been watching BSG for so long that "toaster" pings as a derogatory term.
So everyone in the know knows about Ellen now?
This episode is shaping up to be a sausage party.
Nicky not being Tyrol's son came from nowhere. In hindsight, I guess that explains why Cally wasn't freaked out about Nicky being half-Cylon when she found out about the four. I'm disappointed in Tyrol. Nicky may not be his son biologically, but Nicky is his son in the ways that matter. I think it's shitty to leave a kid in the hospital. Even if it turns out that kid isn't your son and he's chubby. At the end when he tells Hot Dog not to leave I want to believe it's because Tyrol knew he shouldn't leave. Hot Dog looks like a guy I used to know who was a complete asshole, so I'm predisposed to wanting to knee him in the crotch. Was it all to get out of Nicky being half-Cylon?
I sincerely hope that BSG didn't jump the shark when they found shitty Earth. This episode was a slow one and not just a BSG slow. It feels like the beginning of larger stories that will progress in these last episodes. There better be a pay off.
The way I see it, Roslin is slowly killing herself by letting herself die. She thinks she's done and she's doing what Dee did. Roslin isn't going to actively kill herself, but she wants out. I used to be a huge Roslin fan, but over the seasons I've stopped adoring her.
The scene with Gaeta and Kara was great, but I didn't know how to feel about it. Gaeta went to far and Kara did too. These are characters I like, but not in this scene. They're so angry and awful to each other. Although Gaeta was funny. Kara never thinks about other people and is rarely held accountable. I don't see her airlocking herself the way she was so ready to do it to Gaeta. A lot has changed since season 3.
I find Tom Zarek to be an interesting character, but only as a secondary one. His character development and arc is extreme. Look at season one when he started as a prisoner and look at him now as the Vice President. I don't like the attention being on him though. He's better when it's more about other characters. Speechifying annoys me when it's not powerful and perfect. While I agree with him on the Roslin and Adama anti-democratic actions, I can't side with Zarek because I know it can't end well. The levels of arrogance are high on all sides. There's also too much anger that can only lead to civil war, which will leave too many scars. Meanwhile, Roslin and Adama don't seem to care about the rest of the world. I can almost understand Roslin's motivation, but Adama is being a douchebag. Being able to question the government and knowing that there is always room for improvement is an important aspect of democracy.
Lee seems to be in the best place right now, despite his frak up.
I had a terrible feeling that Baltar was Nicky's father in that scene. Baltar has hinged so much on religion that the reality of Earth call too much of his foundations into question. He seems to not want to play this part anymore, turning it into a nearly anti-religious rally.
Where has Head!Six been lately?
One marked difference in the series is that there's no longer "bad guys" in the way the Cylon were in the beginning. There's only morally questionable characters. All of whom think they're right when everyone is wrong in a way. There's no final destination for the fleet, so they're turning inward in their own ways. It was more about struggling to find a purpose and railing against anything around.
Tigh should laugh more.
Dear, dear, Felix, you have awful judgment. I seems like this was supposed to be brought on Dee's death, but it wasn't enough, so they did the webisodes. Maybe not, but I think so. I have adored Gaeta and I'm glad that he's getting his own storyline. It's rather sad to look at Felix in the beginning of the series and to look at what he's becoming now. He thinks he's right and that's the saddest part of all. He wants to be moral and do the right thing, but it's only going to make things worse in new and different ways. I suppose that's the point, but it's still depressing to see.
I don't like Roslin and Adama as a romantic couple. Why can't there be a male and female relationship without sex? The relationship between them early in the series was one of clashing personalities. Now it feels like one of compromise.
