I think a lot of fanfic tropes can be applied directly to vidding without there needing to be a separate category of "vid tropes". I'm thinking of stuff like hurt/comfort, AU/constructed reality, tonal tropes like angst/crack/fluff... Or do you mean... I dunno, stylistically? Technically?
I was thinking somewhat along those lines, but more specific. Like the breakdowns of tv tropes at tvtropes.org (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/Tropes). And stylistically as well.
Dunno if it counts, but certainly if two characters are fighting in vids, it generally is meant to imply that they want to fuck. Same if you see them moving in synch in some way.
Came as a surprise to me as well. I'm reminded of the time when we didn't know we had to disguise our titlecards at Festivids. I suppose the two of us need to be slinking away with our brown-bag lunches to the bathroom...
A literary trope is the usage of figurative language in literature. For media it's storytelling shorthand for a concept that the audience will recognize and understand instantly. It can be a plot trick, a setup, a narrative structure, a character type, a linguistic idiom... you know it when you see it.
No need to feel bad, I had to google to get the right words for the definition.
