parties, college, Damien Rice, recs

Amanda’s party last week was fun. My birthday party with my family didn't go well because everyone argued. I don't know why I thought it would be any different. That's all anyone in my family does; we don't know how to interact with each other without arguing. I didn't get a lot for my birthday; mostly dinky things like sunflower seeds and candy from Becky (good idea to give the fat girl food), Gram gave me some money, and Lib got me Chuck early and the Collector's Edition of Serenity. Obviously, Lib wins at life for giving me geeky awesome things. I worked all day on my actual birthday. They actually announced my birthday over the sound system in the store, which was cool. They've never done that before as far as I know, but most people request off on their birthday. I was elbow deep in chicken parts when they announced it, so yay me. My manager made my birthday cake extra pretty:

The power went out at the college yesterday and classes were cancelled, but our professor made us have class anyways (in the dark, with no air conditioning, no windows, with the bathrooms shut down, and with everyone else gone). I went out for dinner with Lib and left my ID out in the car because I’m not used to needing it to get drinks:

I was so tired yesterday I came home, fell into bed, and slept for 14 hours.

Damien Rice is playing near me on the 11th and I really want to see them, so I might go. I haven't decided yet because it's on a Tuesday night after I've had classes from 9:30 to 6:45.

Ooh! I want a slice of the cake! Is it all gone?? :(

I was elbow deep in chicken parts when they announced it, so yay me.
That is just so damn appropriate.

It's not all gone, it's currently in a Tupperware dish in my fridge:

Dead chicken pieces smell so good.

Mmm. Cake.

Now that I think about it, I could go for some dead chicken pieces.

Hhehehe, head over to your local IGA and they'll have some for you.

Wow! 21st! Many happy returns and chicken parts. :)

Thanks. Now that I'm 21 there's no escaping being an adult.

Oh, Serenity! That cake looks scrumptious. *g* (Sorry to hear about arguing family.) It's cool your manager made you a cake, and they announced it. Sorry about the chicken parts though. Although that's pretty damn funny. *g*

(Oh, and thanks for the crack rec! Yay, crack!)

I came very close to licking my new DVD.

My family's stupid. I should expect nothing less.

I'm so short I can't get to the bottom of the barrel to get the last pieces to clean everything, so I have to get a milk crate to stand on. It makes everyone laugh that I'm so short.

Your crack is the best kind.

Happy (belated) birthday!! I wish you a year filled with nothing but good things.

Thanks. :) I'd love a year with nothing but good things, but I'd settle for one filled with Twinkie creme.

Happy 21st! I do believe "Elbow Deep in Chicken Parts" is a perfect title if you should ever choose to write an autobiography :)

And dude, just NO on the prof making you have class in that situation. We had a water main break last week that left campus without water, and we had the option to go home. And fuck yes, I did. No way I'm staying to see the consequences of non-flushing toilets and the student body. Inhumane.

I think I'll have to at least title the chapter about IGA "Elbow Deep in Chicken Parts". I was going to call it "Im in ur deli, clicing ur cheese", but that has a better ring to it.

The part that peeved me off was when we were leaving class she saw all the signs that said "All University classes after 3:30pm are cancelled", then she laughed said, "not for us".

Exactly.

I caught the end of The Killer, the end of The Zombies, but I still can never make myself remember.
