vid title: All These Things That I've Done
music: The Killers
source: Battlestar Galactica
duration: 3:51
notes: After a conversation with
beccatoria about the duality of the sleeper Cylon (the final four - Saul Tigh, Sam Anders, Tory Foster, and Galen Tyrol), I wondered how they saw themselves. I think Tigh sees himself as two people, while Tory sees herself as "becoming" her real self with the knowledge of her true nature. Tory is an extremely complex and interesting character that I had to explore her in vid form for the Manifesto Challenge at
thearchive2.

I'm completely awestruck at how using the acoustic version of the song really makes the vid into something it would be if you'd used the studio version. Holy-fucking-cylon. o_O
It's so gritty and poignant at the same time. I'm digging the color and the choppy Tory bits all over the place, especially the spot where he's singing about "I've got soul, but I'm not a soldier" with her and Cally sleeping with Gaius. So fantastic.

I went for the acoustic version for the drums. At certain parts the drums sound like the ones Bear McCreary uses for the score.

♥ I know I am going to watch this many many many more times.

This is great.
You use the acoustic version of this song to great effect, and the way you pick up on the choppy strumming with the cuts really pulls away from the general perception of acoustic as being something softer. It also works really well within the confines of the vid.
Basically I want to praise the editing style, but I'm not entirely sure how, because what I mean is...you make really good use of the fact the acoustic track is choppy in terms of the cuts, but also in terms of when you let the clip hang because there's silence in the background, when the single guitar has stopped strumming.
And as always, I love your use of lyrics. :)
Thanks for sharing!
CYLONS ARE LOVE!

I've been trying to use longer clips and get more emotionally involved for the editing. I usually go for flash over emotion. Hopefully I'm finding a good balance.
Thanks!

I don't understand the Tory hate. I think she's so interesting. She's a character with more under the surface.
I'm glad the editing works for you. I was worried it wouldn't go over well.

And as a Tory fan -- thank you. :)
I really like how this vid played so much around Tory's face/eyes, there's something that always seems small and forgotten about her. I think she's scary as hell sometimes, but still... for lack of a better word, human.
Seriously brilliant use of the quick editing, it just felt natural. That sequence of the Final Fivers at the beginning (0:15) flashing repeatedly through them and back to Tory was especially cool.
