That's life (that's life), that's what all the people say
You're riding high in April, shot down in May
But I know I'm gonna change that tune
When I'm back on top, back on top in June

I've been a puppet, a pauper, a pirate, a poet, a pawn, and a king
I've been up and down and over and out and I know one thing
Each time I find myself flat on my face
I pick myself up and get back in the race

That's life (that's life), that's life, and I can't deny it
Many times I thought of cuttin' out, but my heart won't buy it
But if there's nothin' shakin' come this here July
I'm gonna roll myself up in a big ball and die

My, my!

I haven't found the music yet. I actually have a couple of Audrey Hepburn's on the drawing board I do have the music for, so I'll probably get to Fonda after that.

I really want to do the froofy tail getting caught in the spaceship door!

It doesn't surprise me at all that Redford is still looking good. Such a pretty man.

I've watched to do a Breakfast at Tiffany's vid, but can't find the right music either.

If it's for VVC, I think a Barbarella could go over well.

Redford must have a lifetime warranty.

Breakfast at Tiffany's would be so great as a vid. (It isn't one of the movies I'm doing. :) Hepburn is gorgeous in it, and so is Peppard.

Music is hard for older sources, I think. There's the dilemma of era-appropriate, or something more recent that casts it in a new light, along with all the usual issues.

Hmmm. You know, there would be enough footage of Redford at various ages that a pretty interesting constructed reality is probably possible. *adds idea to notes file*

Breakfast at Tiffany's is one of those movies that I watched too young and almost everything went over my head. I watched it this year and noticed so many things I'd missed. When my friends and I went to New York we did the Tiffany's window thing and had ZERO shame.

You're so right about the music. I watched the line up for the Brand New Classics vidshow at VVC and was amazed by how well the music went with the sources for most of the vids. Even the ones with modern music.

I've wanted to vid Breakfast at Tiffany's for a while, but the music has been one of the biggest factors against it. That and how dated it is in terms of race and gender. Do I intentionally make note of those things? Call attention to them? Gloss over them?

A Redford AU is completely possible and interesting to think about.

I know what you mean about problematic issues in sources.

For what it's worth, I don't think vidding always has to be overtly political. I think as long as we don't always make vids that gloss over problems, it's fine to make some that do and focus on what we loved.

Both reactions are valid, right? We can love something even while seeing its flaws. We never react just one way to texts. So why should our vids?

Finding the balance is what I'm still struggling with. I don't think I have it right, yet. And with something like BAT, which won't be vidded that often, it does mean the issues are less likely to be vidded by someone else.

I haven't come up with a good solution to music yet; I mostly find it by accident.

There was a panel on music choice at the con, wasn't there? What did people say?
