She was a January girl
She never let on how insane it was
In that tiny kinda scary house
By the woods
By the woods
By the woods
By the woods

By the woods
By the woods
By the woods
By the woods

Black dove
Black dove
You're not a helicopter
You're not a cop out either
Honey, black dove
Black dove
You don't need a space ship
They don't know you've already lived
On the other side of the galaxy
The other side of the galaxy
The other side of the galaxy

But I have to get to Texas
Said I have to get to TEXAS
And I'll give away my blue blue dress

Black dove
Black dove
You don't need a space ship
They don't know you've already lived
On the other side of the galaxy
The other side of the galaxy
The other side of the galaxy

But I have to get to Texas
Said I have to get to Texas
And I'll give away my blue blue dress
And I'll give away my blue dress because
Cowboy, the snakes,
They are my kin, are my kin.

She has a January girl
She never let on how insane it was
In that tiny kinda scary house
By the woods
By the woods
By the woods
By the woods

By the woods
By the woods
By the woods
By the woods

By the woods
By the woods
By the woods
Black dove

a;lskdja this is BRILLIANT. Fuck yeah, River Song!

I adore the song choice and your sense of musicality in this - it moves so well and every clip choice is so smart that even the most familiar footage seemed brand new. All the parallels between River and Amy are brilliantly drawn, and the shots flicking between the astronaut and River at other points in her life were amazing. And what a fantastic choice for a last shot - I got chills!

*goes to watch a bunch more times*

OMG, gorgeous, gorgeous vid! 'On the other side of the galaxy' sequence gave me chills. Brilliant song choice, and so epicly vidded. The blown kiss and 'I have to get to Texas' moments really pop. And so fluidly... ::marvels::

Oh wow, this is WONDERFUL!!! Gah! The sharp, quick cutting on the piano keys is amazing. Riveeeeeeeeeeer! <3

This was perfect. I hope as the seasons go on, her story on the show goes even further, but yes, that's River to a t, and I love both her and this vid.

I think this may be one of my favorite River vids! And it was great watching it for the first time on a big screen.

What a fantastic parallel you've drawn with River, Amy, and the Doctor. And the scene of River putting her own mother, so little still, to bed is mind-boggling. Well done!

This is *wonderful*. I love how you put together the time displacement of River's life so that we get a real sense of her as both her mother's daughter (the parallels you show between her and Amy are *fantastic*) AND, in certain ways, her mother's *mother*--in addition to her ties to the Doctor, and the sense of her *self* as an independent entity. A whole, fascinatingly-drawn picture of River, and really, *really* well done.

This was great--I loved all the images tying River and Amy, River taking care of Amy in a role reversal. And the closing images were so strong.

SO MUCH LOVE.

Later, I might have some deep thoughts on your fantastic portrayal of River as a woman almost impossibly in charge of her own destiny - with her parents, with her love for the Doctor, with fighting the good fight for the galaxy - but right now I'm too busy weeping. OH, RIVER. I JUST WANT HER TO BE SO VERY, VERY HAPPY.

Thank you for this. <3

This was simply wonderful :)

Oh wow. That was beautiful - the explosion of images in the middle made me gasp.

I love this a lot and have just recced it on my journal.

This is amazing. Your editing is amazing, but your flair for highlighting the parallels is so great -- you really got me with the hair shake, wow. Also, you totally redeemed the ending of Forest of the Dead for me, which is saying something, because I have real trouble with that ending. In conclusion: Awesome!

I would never have put this song together with River in my head, and now I think that was DEEPLY stupid of me because man is it perfect!

This was fantastic.

Pretty epic! Is it weird that the thing I dig most is that River's hair is a perfect match for Tori? IDEK.

Wow.....errr....wow.....sorry.....speechless. The song choice i seffin' brilliant if I may say so and the editing is so wonderfully smooth and flowing....like a river and the best part? Doctor Who will be back fairly soon and that means so will River :high fives:

VID. VID IS AMAZING. VID.

Seriously - it's really gorgeous, there's something particularly compelling about the cascades of images as the notes cascade through the piano keys, all these resonant parallel images, that's just wonderful. It gives a hint at both the nonlinearity and secrecy of her life and also the way we still have this outline, shape of such beauty and clarity. We know who she is even if we'll never know all the names she goes by. ♥

ugh this vid and THIS SONG and river! have my heart, please and thank you. i love the parallels and the editing and it is a thing of beauty, this vid.

I've never seen a single episode of Doctor Who but I still thought this was amazing. I LOVED all the parallels between River and Amy. And I really liked the unpredictable (but never choppy or 'wrong' feeling) rhythm of the cutting. Made the vid feel that much more unique, not that uniqueness is ever an issue with your work. :) Oftentimes I don't really care for vids that constantly cut so fast but it totally worked here. Oh and the repeated spinning motion starting at 1:12 admist all the chaos is gorgeous and striking, as are the flashes of the angels around 1:33. This is probably one of my favorite Dr. Who vids. Amazing work!

Oooh, EXCELLENT! Excellent, excellent work! Love it.

I've been avoiding this show forever (I had a thing in canon that I couldn't stand) but, oh, look. Now I've downloaded the first episode of the new doctor in order to catch this cool ass character!

And it's all your fault!
