If I'm not expecting to be touched, I flinch.

I'm the same way. I've gotten better about having people touch me, but only if I'm consciously thinking about it. Otherwise, I will flinch and instinctively draw away. I really feel for you with the whole wound experience. Having all those strangers touching you and changing bandages and such must be nerve-wracking.
