I haven't seen a single episode and *did* feel that this was accessible. The intercutting with the funeral made it clear that one of these guys was going to die, but then there's a "red herring" -- I don't know if that was the way it was handled in the episodes themselves, but you think it's going to be the first guy who gets shot and who they struggle to save, but then the second one gets shot and the funeral intercutting then reveals that *he* is the one who dies.
Heh. It sounds really stupid when I type it like that :) But anyway, I definitely think your experiment worked! And I liked the flow of the editing, which had a hypnotic sort of rocking (through the alternating motion/stillness) that matched the music.
